As a member of the corporate legal team, this attorney will be expected to work in a team-oriented, results-driven practice group which works collaboratively with its clients on complex legal matters.
You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work with internal clients to address IP needs of the enterprise
- Manage trademark prosecution process, clearance of new marks, draft office action responses and handle trademark maintenance deadlines in connection with IP paralegals
- Conduct initial investigations into possible infringements and enforce company IP rights as necessary, handle incoming IP demands as they arise, draft demand letters and negotiate settlements
- Advise on copyright related matters including copyright registrations and copyright permission requests
- Assist with domain registrations, gTLD strategy, and domain related enforcement matters (UDRPs and takedowns)
- Conduct legal review of marketing and advertising materials
- Create and maintain internal processes, procedures, and tools, such as playbooks and checklists
- Provide training and support on legal issues and developments
- Manage intake and onboarding of acquired IP portfolios
- Manage outside counsel

Required Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate degree
- Current admission to U.S. state bar in your current state of residence
- 3+ years of IP legal experience (law firm or in-house counsel experience)
- 2+ years of significant trademark clearance experience
- Demonstrated presentation creation and delivery skills, including experience with PowerPoint, Excel, and other standard tools
- Proven ability to manage, handle and prioritize multiple projects
- Proven ability to effectively advocate/problem-solve as necessary to obtain desired outcomes
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team setting with other attorneys and paralegals of multiple levels
- Proven ability to work in a matrixed environment
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated poise and confidence necessary to deal with senior lawyers and business leaders

Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $122,100 to $234,700 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
