This Finance Position will support the Optum Massachusetts market – inclusive of budgeting/forecasting, reporting, analytics, productivity, savings planning, strategic initiatives modeling, and other ad hoc financial support. Position work closely with senior leadership and Operations teams on expense efficiency initiatives or growth opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Solves unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business
  • Participates in the development of business strategy with Operations teams
  • Translates highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences
  • Develop and maintain financial reports to clearly communicate actual results, forecasted performance, and variances to plan, forecast and budget
  • Produce clear, well-formatted reports and presentations that communicate a clear, compelling message for management
  • Assist with management reporting and system reconciliation
  • Understand the Optum Massachusetts financial process and become an active participant in the management of its financials
  • Assist with periodic forecast and budget creation for business leadership
  • Analyze trends in revenue, product line profitability, membership, SG&A and other areas of business

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field
  • 3+ years of finance/accounting experience
  • Proficiency in MS Excel skills, including significant financial modeling experience
  • Experience working collaboratively and influencing others within a matrix organization
  • Proven ability to work independently with little supervision, prioritize work and be a self-starter

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA
  • Healthcare experience
  • Experience using Hyperion Essbase and PeopleSoft Financials
  • Solid interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented; strong organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple responsibilities, deadlines and changing priorities
  • Possess initiative, be a self-starter, self-directed, highly motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written communication skills and the ability to verbally communicate ideas clearly & confidently
