The Director, Corporate Security & Business Continuity leverages a strategic approach to threat management, physical plant security technology, providing consistent, scalable solutions that meet Corporate Security standards and the needs of the business for Optum Massachusetts. The position will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing comprehensive programs to ensure the safety and security of the workplace and the continuity of the business operations. The Director, Corporate Security & Business Continuity must be able to demonstrate their ability to leverage relationships, data, technology, and automation to deliver success. This position will be the Business Continuity Lead for Optum Massachusetts. Functions of this role include updating the Business Continuity Plan (BCP), Execution of the BCP during an emergency event and possess the authority to leverage resources within the organization during an event.

Primary Responsibilities:

Corporate Security:

    • Working with the East Regional Security team, plans, develops and executes the Optum Massachusetts security strategy
    • Acts as the primary point of contact for all security and safety matters across Optum MA
    • Supports the delivery of security solutions that meet the needs of the business through engagement with leaders and subject matter experts
    • Provide direct support to Optum MA leaders to include:
      • Maintaining a centralized security database for all employees
      • Managing intrusion alarm schedules, emergency contacts and user codes using several cloud-based platforms
      • Troubleshooting activated intrusion alarms at all practice sites
      • Coordinating service and maintenance of electronic access control and intrusion alarm systems
      • Coordinating installation, additions, upgrades and decommissioning of systems
      • Coordinating security preventative maintenance for electronic access control systems, and intrusion alarm systems
      • Contacting service vendors as necessary and follows work to completion/ o Maintaining inventory of systems and equipment by location
      • Following all Security and Emergency response policies and procedures and contributes to policy/procedure updates of such policies when requested
    • Planning, implementing, and overseeing workplace and safety initiatives to be compliant with Optum/UHG security policies and standards
    • Advises and educates Optum Massachusetts employees on various safety related topics
    • Collaborates with other departments to conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and vulnerabilities and responsible for planning and implementing improvements
    • Leverages relationship with HR to achieve optimal outcomes in employee relations matters
    • Collaborates with team members on budgeting and allocating funds for workplace and safety initiatives
    • Effectively plans for and implements physical security enhancements and other workplace security projects and initiatives
    • Delivers effective security solutions that meet the needs of the business not limited to:
      • Security awareness and training
      • Security system details or changes
      • Badge creation and access
      • Security incident reporting, root cause analysis and performance metric analysis
    • Partners with business leadership to understand business operations and objectives, socializes Workplace Security Programs, and ensures business leaders are informed of Corporate Security resources, expertise, and guidance
    • Provides business leadership with security incident reporting metrics and actionable data and develops an understanding of business leadership perspective related to security opportunities
    • Facilitates the delivery of security solutions that meet the needs of the business through alignment with business leadership, engagement with Corporate Security program leads and subject matter experts
    • Provides business leadership with interpretation of capital and operating expense impact related to onsite physical security enhancements, security awareness, and proactive security training
    • Provides quality assurance of security programs through maintaining strong business leadership relationships, continuing to seek business perspectives, providing routine reporting of security incidents, identifying material trends, and introducing new and updated workplace security solutions
    • Champions physical security, security awareness, and proactive security training initiatives by ensuring execution of strategy in collaboration with Corporate Security program leads and other internal stakeholders
    • Partners with Corporate Security program leads to ensure site-level application of enterprise policies, standards, and specifications

Business Continuity Planning/Enterprise Resilience:

  • Working with the UHG Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) and Crisis Management Team, plans and executes the Optum Massachusetts Site Emergency
  • Response plan, Business Continuity Plan, Disaster Recovery, and plan response to Public Health Emergencies. Is the liaison between the corporate GSOC/Crisis Management teams and the local response teams during an emergency
  • This position will be the Business Continuity Lead for Optum Massachusetts. Functions of this role include updating the Business Continuity Plan (BCP), Execution of the BCP during an event and possesses the authority to leverage resources within the organization during an event
  • Creates and Manages the Business Recovery Team (Incident Command Team (ICT during incidents
  • Is responsible to conduct the annual BCP exercises and maintain related certification
  • Works with the various Optum Massachusetts Process Owners and Alternates to ensure business continuity planning for each location or service area are kept up to date

Crisis Management:

  • Lead the response to workplace emergencies, including natural disasters, accidents, and security incidents
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for emergency response and crisis communication
  • Develop and implement crisis communication plans to ensure timely and accurate information dissemination
  • Conduct post-incident reviews to identify lessons learned and improve future responses

Payment Card Industry (PCI) Compliance:

  • Is the key contact between Optum Massachusetts and Optum to Manage the PCI process and work with key Optum Massachusetts stakeholders to achieve and maintain compliance with PCI Data Security Standards
  • Works with Optum to maintain the Optum Massachusetts Payment Card Processing Data Flow Document and ensures it stays up to date
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervises group of non-clinical staff, including subordinate supervisors and managers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities within areas of responsibility in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Provides direction and support to staff to assure departmental effectiveness and efficiency. Responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, orienting, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; reviewing personnel actions of subordinates and addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Comply with health and safety requirements created by applicable regulatory agencies
  • Comply with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives
  • Enhance professional growth and development through educational programs, seminars, etc.
  • Attend a variety of meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed
  • Perform other similar and related duties as required or directed
  • Regular, reliable and predictable attendance is required

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in customer service environment
  • 2+ years in facility or security operations and maintenance
  • Ability to travel within the state of Massachusetts as needed
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Proven ability to prioritize and organize various work priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and collaborate with cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), or Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP)
  • Experience with service coordination for intrusion alarm, electronic access control, or physical lock systems
  • Experience in a multi-site healthcare facility setting

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description, may be substituted for the above requirements.
