As a Software Engineer I (Frontend), you will help build the user experiences that power WHOOP’s digital products. With direction from senior engineers, you will ship high-quality code for member-facing features to production, using modern web technologies and AI-assisted development workflows to prototype and iterate rapidly. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer who cares about user experience, learns quickly from feedback, and wants to grow toward owning features from concept through launch.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Build well-defined parts of member-facing features from designs and requirements, estimate your work, and see your part through to production

• Prototype, iterate on, and ship features using AI-assisted development workflows, with guidance and code review from your teammates

• Contribute to high-quality, performant web applications built with Next.js, React, and Tailwind CSS

• Implement responsive, mobile-first user interfaces from designs so they work well across devices

• Test your code against core user journeys, take part in code reviews, and apply the feedback you receive to each new contribution

• Work closely with product, design, and backend teams, asking questions to understand the reasoning behind product and UX decisions

• Learn and apply the team’s best practices in frontend architecture, performance, accessibility, and maintainability

• Grow your knowledge of the systems your team owns and take part in the on-call rotation, escalating issues when needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 0 to 2 years of professional experience in frontend or full stack software development, including internships or co-ops

• Solid fundamentals in JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, and CSS

• Experience building web applications with React through work, internships, coursework, or personal projects (Next.js and Tailwind CSS experience is a plus)

• Experience shipping user-facing work, such as a product feature, an internship project, or a personal app

• Care for user experience and attention to detail, with curiosity about how members use the product

• Familiarity with building responsive, mobile-first interfaces

• Eagerness to work and learn in a fast-paced, iterative environment with an emphasis on rapid prototyping and continuous improvement

• Familiarity with integrating frontend code with RESTful APIs, and interest in learning to work across the stack

• Strong problem-solving skills, with the habit of researching a problem on your own before asking for help and bringing the options you have considered when you do

• Clear communication and collaboration skills, including comfort asking questions and sharing progress often

This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $105,000 - $145,000. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within each range, individual pay is based on factors such as job-related skills, experience, performance, and relevant education or training.

In addition to the base salary, the successful candidate will also receive benefits and a generous equity package.

These ranges may be modified in the future to reflect evolving market conditions and organizational needs. While most offers will typically fall toward the starting point of the range, total compensation will depend on the candidate’s specific qualifications, expertise, and alignment with the role’s requirements.
