WHOOP Labs is the research and hardware validation arm of WHOOP. Our work focuses on conducting research to validate next-gen features and technology.

As a Research Scientist II, you will own the design and execution of health and wellness research, with an emphasis on distributed and decentralized methodologies. Collaborating with the WHOOP Labs team, you will lead end-to-end studies, leveraging remote data collection tools.

This is a W-2, Temporary role through the remainder of 2026, with an hourly pay range of $36 - $45. Candidates must be prepared to work in person at WHOOP Labs in Boston, MA 5 days each week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead custom survey development, protocol design, refinement, and execution for studies conducted in a distributed environment.

  • Train other WHOOP Labs research coordinators to ensure high quality and consistent study execution across sessions

  • Support survey development efforts utilizing internal research tool and through partnerships with external vendors, when applicable

  • Work collaboratively with WHOOP Labs Research Operations to collect, scope, and schedule study requests

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with other stakeholder teams whose work is supported by your projects such as Data Science, Clinical, Hardware, and Signal Processing

  • Manage the use and upkeep of data collection equipment and support the day-to-day operations of the Lab including data quality monitoring and device/platform troubleshooting

  • Provide a best-in-class experience to study participants, following best practices for human subjects research and creating a welcoming and inclusive environment

  • Serve as an ambassador for WHOOP Labs and WHOOP brand

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in biotech, HCI, psychology, statistics/analytics, or similar.

  • 2+ Experience working in user experience research, market research, consumer health product research and/or a related field with a strong focus on mixed methods.

  • Proven skills with survey design, quantitative analysis, and experimental designs.

  • Familiarity with analytical or statistical evaluation of quantitative survey data sets is nice-to-have

  • Strong technological background and working knowledge of data management systems including the Google Suite

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to translate participant study expectations in a clear, detailed, and friendly manner via written communication and instruction

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Professional, timely, organized

  • Interest in leveraging AI to streamline research processes and deliverables
