Vicarious Surgical is hiring a Senior Systems Integration Engineer to join our team in Waltham, MA. In this role, you will work on all aspects of our surgical system including software, controls, and electrical and mechanical hardware. You’ll have working knowledge of how all the components, subsystems, and software work together to make Vicarious Surgical’s robot run. You will also become an expert in one or more subsystems, creating processes and tools for testing/manufacturing them.

Your work will have a critical impact at the center of our product development team. You will be involved in the definition of system and subsystem requirements/testing, solve cross program problems, and de risk aspects of the system as they are available to be tested. This job requires a wide breadth of technical skills, spanning mechanical, electrical, software and controls engineering. You will be heavily involved with software development with debugging in python and c/c++.

Vicarious Surgical is a next generation robotics company developing a disruptive technology with the goal of increasing the efficiency of surgical procedure, improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs.

Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally with different engineering teams to test out critical path functionality
  • Identify and solve problems that bridge multiple subsystems in scope
  • Quickly create prototypes to unblock development teams and test core functionality
  • Provide solutions to improve the robot architecture or performance.
  • Work with the relevant engineering teams to resolve problems and provide feedback for future design improvements
  • Lead system demonstrations and tests
  • Provide technical mentorship to other team members

About You

  • Degree(s) in robotics, mechatronics, electrical, mechanical or computer engineering, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience designing, building and/or troubleshooting complex electromechanical systems
  • Strong foundation in two or more of the following: software, mechanical, and electrical engineering
  • Experience writing and debugging software using Python and C/C++
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly build and debug electromechanical systems
  • Agile development experience
  • Experience with embedded devices and sensors
  • Robotic systems and/or medical device work experience
  • Experience with mechanical CAD preferred but not required
