Job Summary:

  • The Therapeutic Area (TA) NA Medical Head leads the NA Medical TA organization within the General Medicines group.

  • The Medical Head is responsible for leading the development, execution, and monitoring of the medical brand(s) strategies and working with the TA medical team and functional leads on the execution of tactics and associated budget.

  • The Medical Head is expected to collaborate with colleagues in Global Medical, R&D, Commercial, Drug Safety, Compliance, Legal and Regulatory to successfully support the brand and deputize directly for the Head of NA Gen Med Medical on TA matters.

  • This individual is responsible for leading, planning and providing medical expertise.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide inspirational leadership and focus to NA TA Medical team to ensure delivery of key NA Medical strategy and priorities as related to NA Medical and corporate priorities

  • Lead, develop and when appropriate recruit to form a highly performing collaborative team and maintain responsibility for the development, execution, and oversight of the TA Medical brand strategy. Oversee the management of the TA Medical budget.

  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders such as Global Medical, R&D, Commercial, Regulatory, Legal, Scientific Communications, Pharmacovigilance, and Public Affairs.

  • Communicate externally as a representative of the functional unit. Represent the TA and Sanofi to engage key external audiences including HCPs, key thought leaders, medical associations, professional societies, and other key organizations.

  • Utilize medical insights from the field teams to inform the Medical Plan.

  • Identify and implement appropriate and impactful medical research projects to support the strategic medical objectives, including Sanofi-sponsored, external stakeholder collaborations, and investigator-initiated studies.

  • Coordinate and execute on other NA medical affairs specific functions (e.g., compassionate use programs) as applicable

  • Thorough understanding of and ability to integrate health economics research into customer programs and initiatives.

  • Working knowledge of epidemiology, biostatistics and health economics/policy.

  • Thorough understanding of FDA, OIG, HIPAA, and other ethical guidelines.

  • Maintain an understanding and strict environment of integrity and compliance consistent with regulations, laws, and US Sanofi operating principles, standards, and policies.

About You

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree required; M.D., PhD, PharmD, or equivalent preferred

  • 7+ years of job-related experience required, combination of clinical, medical, and academia preferred

  • Transplant experience strongly preferred; open to other TAs (oncology, hematology, etc.)

  • Travel up to 30-40% domestic and international

  • Must be able to work in the office 3 days/week

Professional Competencies

  • Functional expertise — working knowledge of treatments, product labeling and federal regulations pertaining to pharmaceutical promotion and industry-sponsored scientific and educational activities

  • Strong scientific and business acumen

  • Knowledge and application of business planning and leadership principles, including data analysis, goal setting, action plans, and monitoring tools

  • Extensive experience in translating medical/clinical information into medical affairs strategies

  • Experience working in an environment that successfully integrates all business unit functions

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence teams, manage direct and indirect diverse work groups, motivate, and maximize productivity

  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to gain respect and credibility with thought leaders

The salary range for this position is:

$232,500.00 - $335,833.33
