Pharmacy Student (4th year undergraduate) experiential learning workplace placement arranged by APPEL
4 month placement under the preceptorship of an accredited Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) Pharmacist.
Student develops experience-based learning and formally assessed by Preceptor on the following PSI Core Competency domains:

Manufacturing Science, Analytics & Technology (MSAT) Process Data Science & Digital Transformation - or in short, MSAT DSD - is a transversal team within the Global MSAT organization.
As one glocal (global & local) team, we provide day-to-day expertise to support data driven decision-making, while also fostering innovation and accelerating digital transformation in strategic partnership with our Digital partners.
Our expertise spans across data management and contextualization, mechanistic modelling, statistics, machine learning, (generative) AI, and digital transformation, all of which greatly contribute to MSAT excellence.
This placement within the MSAT DSD team will best suit students who are interested in the use of data and digital tools to enable fast data-driven decision making to accelerate product launches for our technical teams.
The placement offers the opportunity to work with a small team of dedicated scientists focused on data/digital innovations & excellence, aiming to guarantee acceleration and securing launches & improvement as well as sustainability for our current processes.
The student will work on an agreed MSAT business initiative using one of the following digital tools
· (generative) Artificial Intelligence to enable faster report writing
· in-silico modelling to reduce risk and accelerate process development
Student will gain insights to the development and industrialization of medicines used for rare diseases, rare blood disorders and immuno-oncology indications. The student will learn how digital tools are used within Biopharma to accelerate the technology transfer of new products and provide best in class manufacturing and QC support for commercial products
The student will have the opportunity to present an overview of their placement and lessons learned to the Management Team.
The student will be precepted by David O’Grady, a pharmacist with > 25 years experience and currently working in the area of Digital Transformation for Drug Product medicines.
