Summer-Fall 2026 Co-Op - Cell Therapy and Immuno-oncology
Sanofi
Job Title: Summer-Fall 2026 Co-Op - Cell Therapy and Immuno-oncology
Location: Cambridge, MA
About Sanofi:
We’re an R&D-driven, AI-powered biopharma company committed to improving people’s lives and delivering compelling growth. Our deep understanding of the immune system – and innovative pipeline – enables us to invent medicines and vaccines that treat and protect millions of people around the world. Together, we chase the miracles of science to improve people’s lives.
About the Job
We re-engineer immune cells to selectively kill the tumor cells in cancer patients. Immune cells will function as living drugs and in favorable situations expand and exert a strong anti-tumor response. Similarly, they are bound by the same laws that endogenous human cells are, such as exhaustion by tumor-produced factors, abnormal tumor vessels, and other obstacles that a suppressive tumor microenvironment poses. We try to remove barriers to the success of cell-based therapies in our group.
The cell therapy Co-op will work hands-on in the lab in developing assays and techniques to mimic the tumor microenvironment and testing antibodies and biomaterials (e.g., nanoparticles) that alter the immune system in favor of tumor cell eradication. As part of a newly established team, the Co-op will have the opportunity to make significant contributions to the research and development on a daily basis.
The ability to learn quickly, work on multiple assignments, and effectively document scientific data are key components of the role.
Main Responsibilities:
Maintain cancer cell lines in culture, including routine passaging of cells and maintenance of research cell banks
Isolate primary immune cells from Whole blood or leukopaks
Plan and execute in vitro experiments, including (a) testing nanoparticle-based formulations in whole blood or isolated immune cells, (b) analysis using flow cytometry, (c) measuring cytokine release using ELISA assays
Carefully record findings using electronic laboratory notebooks
Write SOPs in full detail to ensure reproducibility of the work
Communicate results to team members and participate in meetings
Maintain laboratory equipment
Perform additional tasks to support research and development as the scope of the job changes as necessitated by growth of the team
