The Genomic Medicine Unit (GMU) CMC group at Sanofi is dedicated to the establishment of best-in-class manufacturing platforms to support development of life-changing advanced cell and gene therapy products, including recombinant AAV vectors and cell therapy products. This organization encompasses vector and cell line engineering, upstream and downstream process development, analytics, and clinical manufacturing support.

The cell culture process development group is responsible for viral vector production optimization and development of next generation production platforms to support high dose therapeutic products.

Main Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will work with his/her supervisor to design, plan and conduct cell culture experiments to generate data for building computational models that predict product quality attributes and process performance.

  • The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work both individually on cell culture experiments as well as part of the larger cell culture team to support group project work.

  • The candidate will develop a diverse skill set in cell culture development platforms potentially including seed train development, media development, high throughput techniques, benchtop bioreactors, etc. as these skills pertain to process development.

About You

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in biology, chemical or biochemical engineering, biotech, data science, informatics, or related degree at an accredited 4-year college or university with the expectation that you will complete your current degree by the Spring of 2027

  • Must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. and not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually require future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship

  • Must be able to relocate to the office location and work 40hrs/week, Monday-Friday, for the full duration of the co-op.

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university throughout the duration of the co-op/internship ​


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Logical and critical thinking skills.

  • Innovative problem solving.

  • Ability to work in biosafety level 2, follow safety procedure, and maintain good laboratory practices.

  • Academic training in handling big data, data science and machine learning is highly preferred.

  • Some familiarization with sterile technique highly preferred.

  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture/aseptic techniques.

  • Able to work independently and in collaboration with others.
