Biopharmaceutics Development at Sanofi develops and implements manufacturing processes for biologics starting with an early and strong interface with Biologics Research. It encompasses cell line development, GMP cell banking, upstream- downstream and formulation development, assay development, GMP clinical biologics production for toxicological and clinical studies, release and stability testing (QC). Biopharmaceutics development drives identification, development & introduction of new state-of-the-art technologies, and provides launch capable processes and analytical methods at the interface to biologics manufacturing.
Within Biopharmaceutics Development Group in Framingham, the Bioprocessing Engineering (BPE) Tech Pilot Plant (TPP) Upstream (USP) Team is responsible for the culturing of mammalian cells to support pre-clinical material deliverables, process development, process tech transfer, and new technology development.

Main Responsibilities:
We are looking for candidates to join a dynamic and motivated team to support early and late-stage development of biological products. The Associate Scientist will be directly involved in the operation and upkeep of cell culture for biologics development, while ensuring that the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance are maintained in the workplace; and operate under the regulatory requirements for biologics product development and manufacturing.
Responsibilities include:
Preparing and monitoring mammalian cell cultures for process scaling and operation (shake flasks to 500L Vessel).
Interfacing with process development teams to achieve process transfer from small scale systems to pilot scale.
Working with tech transfer teams to transfer processes to GMP manufacturing facilities.
Utilization and creation of Electronic Batch Records (eBRs) in support of cell culture production.
Providing feedback to automation engineers to improve automation systems and integrate new features.
Support equipment calibration with the metrology group for the Pilot Plant equipment.
Maintain good communications and collaboration with colleagues in other groups and departments.
Opportunity to cross train on downstream bioprocess activities supported by the TPP.
About You
Basic Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
B.A./B.S. in Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, or related discipline/ OR Associates degree with 2+ years of direct relevant experience in biological development/manufacturing
GED with 5+ years of direct relevant experience in biological development/manufacturing
Essential Requirements:
Direct hands-on experience with cell culture systems
Ability to support flexible scheduling including weekends, holidays, and nonstandard work hours
Preferred Qualifications:
Educational Background:
Bioengineering or engineering background is preferred; however, significant industry experience with associate degrees is equally valued
Technical Skills:
Experience with mammalian cell culture, including fed-batch and perfusion methods
Proficiency in sterile/aseptic techniques and biosafety cabinet (BSC) operations
Cell culture experience across various scales (note: role focuses on larger-scale processes rather than small-scale tissue culture)
Experience with batch records and structured workflow processes

The salary range for this position is:
$63,000.00 - $91,000.00All compensation will be determined commensurate with demonstrated experience. Employees may be eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs. Additional benefits information can be found through the LINK.
