The Head of Global Logistics Control Tower is responsible for leading the strategic and operational activities of Sanofi’s logistics control tower, providing global visibility over transportation and warehousing networks. This role ensures the smooth execution of logistics flows, manages event escalation and mitigation, and drives the adoption of digital solutions to enhance visibility and performance. The position collaborates closely with internal stakeholders such as planning, customer fulfillment, global engineering, and business continuity leaders to optimize decision-making and risk mitigation. The role also develops and steers the global control tower strategy, ensuring alignment across regions and key functions.

Main Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership of Global Control Tower:

  • Develop and implement the overall strategy for the global logistics control tower, ensuring it aligns with the company’s broader supply chain and business objectives.

  • Oversee the establishment and ongoing enhancement of control tower capabilities across different regions to ensure standardized practices and seamless operations.

  • Ensure the control tower's capabilities are scalable and adaptable to the company’s growth and evolving market needs, including supporting new product launches, market expansion, and regulatory changes.

Build from scratch with the Horizon Project the Control Tower Capabilities:

  • Drive the Business and Technical requirements collection and validation.

  • Drive the Control Tower Orchestration layer through the whole project cycle, from detailed design to post go-live implementation support.

  • Responsible for the execution of GAP & Impact analysis

  • Drive the deployment of Control Tower Orchestration layer, including the implementation of advanced analytics, enhanced decision making, supply chain resilience and visibility solutions.

  • Coordinate with other projects that will be included in the Control Tower Layer like (IOTC, Distribution)

  • Coordinate implementation teams and provide SME recommendations (different Sanofi teams, Consulting partners and Vendors)

  • Setup hyper care and support post-implementation.

Global Logistics Visibility and Event Management:

  • Lead the event management function, responsible for detecting and resolving any disruptions within the global logistics network, including transportation delays, warehouse issues, or unforeseen external challenges.

  • Ensure global visibility across the logistics network, including transportation routes, warehousing operations, and real-time tracking of shipments, providing transparency to stakeholders.

  • Trigger mitigation actions in response to logistical disruptions and lead cross-functional coordination to minimize the impact of supply chain disruptions on business operations.

Digital Solutions and Process Innovation:

  • Define and implement digital solutions to enhance visibility, transparency, and execution across global logistics operations, ensuring data-driven decision-making and real-time responsiveness.

  • Oversee the deployment of technology platforms that support control tower operations, including predictive analytics, artificial intelligence (AI) for real-time event detection, and automation tools.

  • Continuously evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to improve logistics flow execution, visibility, and overall supply chain resilience.

Collaboration with Key Stakeholders:

  • Collaborate with the planning and customer fulfillment teams to optimize decision-making processes, ensuring that logistics and supply chain decisions are fully informed by real-time data and visibility.

  • Work closely with Business Continuity Planning (BCP) leaders to ensure that logistics strategies and risk mitigation plans are aligned with broader business continuity and disaster recovery efforts.

  • Partner with neighboring functions such as global engineering, distribution, and market supply chains to ensure a cohesive approach to logistics and seamless cross-functional collaboration.

Logistics Network Optimization and Risk Management:

  • Contribute to the continuous monitoring of performance across transportation and warehousing operations, identifying areas for optimization and driving initiatives to improve cost, speed, and service levels.

  • Develop and manage a global logistics risk management framework, identifying potential risks (e.g., geopolitical issues, supplier disruptions) and putting in place appropriate mitigation plans.

  • Partner with key regions and markets to implement contingency plans in the event of disruptions, ensuring the continuous flow of goods to minimize business impacts.

Global Control Tower Leadership and Team Development:

  • Lead and develop the global control tower team, ensuring that resources and capabilities are in place to effectively manage global logistics operations across all regions.

  • Steer the growth and evolution of the control tower, ensuring it is fully equipped to support business needs, including expanding its scope or functionality as required.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration within the global control tower team, ensuring alignment with the company’s values and goals.

Performance Metrics and Continuous Improvement:

  • Establish and monitor KPIs for control tower operations, including on-time delivery, logistics costs, event resolution time, and overall logistics performance.

  • Drive a continuous improvement/growth mindset within the control tower, regularly reviewing processes and technology to identify areas for enhancement.

  • Provide regular reports and insights to senior leadership on control tower performance, highlighting risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement.

Regulatory Compliance and Best Practices:

  • Ensure that all logistics operations comply with global and local regulations, including transportation and warehousing standards, ensuring that control tower activities adhere to best practices.

  • Enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) across regions to ensure consistent execution and compliance with internal and external requirements.

About You

Skills/Expertise/Experience:

  • Global Logistics Leadership: Proven experience in leading a global control tower or logistics function, preferably within a complex, multinational environment such as pharmaceuticals, life sciences, or other highly regulated industries. Strong track record of overseeing global logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and event management functions.

  • Event Management & Risk Mitigation Expertise: Extensive experience in managing logistics disruptions and implementing risk mitigation strategies, with a focus on proactive event management and the ability to mobilize rapid solutions. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage complex logistics challenges, ensuring business continuity during crises.

  • Digital Supply Chain & Technology Integration: Strong knowledge of digital logistics technologies and control tower solutions, including real-time tracking, visibility platforms, and predictive analytics. Experience in implementing digital tools and technologies that enhance visibility, flow execution, and data-driven decision-making across global logistics networks.

  • Strategic Collaboration and Cross-functional Leadership: Proven ability to collaborate across functions such as planning, procurement, engineering, customer fulfillment, and business continuity to optimize logistics decision-making and execution. Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience in influencing senior leadership and working in a matrixed organization.

  • Performance Management and Continuous Improvement: Experience in establishing and monitoring KPIs for global logistics operations, with a focus on driving continuous improvement initiatives and enhancing operational efficiency; A proven track record of process optimization and driving performance improvements in logistics networks.

  • Team Leadership & Development: Strong experience in leading and developing cross-functional teams, with a focus on fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement / Proven ability to manage a global team, ensuring that control tower functions operate efficiently and in alignment with the company's global logistics strategy.

  • Travel: 25% domestic and international travel required.

Preferred Skills/Expertise/Experience:

  • Advanced Education: An MBA or master’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Operations, or a related field is preferred.

  • Experience in Highly Regulated Industries: Previous experience in pharmaceuticals, life sciences, or another highly regulated industry, with a strong understanding of GDP and other regulatory frameworks for transportation and warehousing.

The salary range for this position is:

$184,500.00 - $266,500.00
