MSAT Process Data Science & Digital Transformation (MSAT DSD) is a transversal team within the Global MSAT organization. MSAT DSD is the data/digital DNA within the processes allowing us to ensure best in class manufacturing & analytical processes, especially by focusing on data/digital innovations & excellence, aiming to guarantee acceleration and securing launches & improvement as well as sustainability for our current processes.

This position will fall within the DSD Mechanistic Modeling & Process Control team. The group develops and implements advanced process modeling and technologies (e.g. CFD, Digital twins, PAT) to enable Sanofi to better understand, monitor, and control the manufacturing operations, and deliver innovative, robust, and cost-effective next-generation processes. The group is highly cross functional in its interactions across R&D and manufacturing, and provides scientific, technical, process engineering expertise to these organizations.

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled co-op/intern to join our DSD Mechanistic Modeling & Process Control to support advanced modeling and harmonization initiatives in process development. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) using M-Star and/or ANSYS Fluent, contribute to standardization and harmonization efforts, and support mechanistic and Process Analytical Technology (PAT) modeling across multiple projects.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the setup, execution, and analysis of simulations using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and related modeling tools.

  • Contribute to harmonization and standardization activities, including documentation, tool development, and best practice consolidation across modeling workflows.

  • Support mechanistic modeling initiatives for bioprocessing or pharmaceutical unit operations, including model calibration, validation, and sensitivity analysis.

  • Collaborate on PAT modeling activities, including data integration, model development, and deployment to support real-time monitoring and control strategies.

  • Document and present findings to cross-functional teams in a clear and concise manner.

About You

Must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. and not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually require future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor’s, degree, masters degree, or PhD degree in data science, computational mathematics, computer science or related field at an accredited college or university with the expectation that you will complete your current degree by the Spring of 2028

  • Must be able to relocate to the office location and work 40hrs/week, Monday-Friday, for the full duration of the co-op/internship

  • Programming/scripting experience (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or similar) for data analysis and model development.

  • Experience working with data visualization tools or dashboards.

  • Basic understanding of mechanistic modeling in the context of chemical/biochemical processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with CFD tools—preferably M-Star; experience with ANSYS Fluent is a plus.

  • Solid understanding of transport phenomena, fluid dynamics, and mixing principles.

  • Exposure to PAT concepts and tools is a plus.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Familiarity with bioprocesses or pharmaceutical unit operations.
