INTRO ABOUT THE POSITION

About the Opportunity

As an experienced Enzyme engineer, you will be responsible for designing and evaluating enzymes to improve mRNA manufacturing process and enable new RNA technologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR POSITION

In this role you will:

  • Work closely with team lead to develop and execute enzyme engineering projects to improve mRNA manufacturing platform and enable novel RNA technologies

  • Develop enzyme assays for high throughput screening

  • Assist in development of automated high throughput screening

  • Design constructs and evaluate enzyme expression in microbial hosts at the lab scale

  • Optimize enzyme purification process

  • Collaborate on enzyme characterization

  • Support tech transfer by preparing and sharing microbial strains, purified enzymes and protocols

  • Handle complex protocols, assist in experimental design, data analysis, and summarize findings into technical reports

  • Communicate effectively within the group and with other functional groups in the company

  • Maintain professional, scientific, and ethical integrity

COMPETENCIES / REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION

About you

  • Ph.D. or M.S. (+5 years of industry experience) in Molecular biology, Synthetic biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biochemical engineering, or related field

  • Deep knowledge in enzymology and enzyme engineering

  • Hands-on experience in molecular cloning, PCR based mutagenesis, plasmid purification and analysis

  • Hands-on experience in heterologous protein/enzyme expression in microbial hosts

  • Hands on experience in protein purification (IMAC, IEX, SEC, HIC) and characterization (gel electrophoresis, immunoblotting)

  • Experience with HPLC is a plus

  • Familiarity to in vitro transcription (IVT) process and RNA characterization

  • Expertise in measuring enzyme activity using ELISA and fluorescence-based assays

  • Understanding of high throughput approaches for enzyme engineering

  • Desire to work in a team-first, fast-paced environment, learn new skills, and to efficiently solve problems with a “can-do and will-do” attitude

  • Attention to detail & meticulous record keeping

  • Familiarity with molecular design tools and statistical analysis
