Intro about the position

About the Opportunity

In this position, you will directly contribute to the acceleration of R&D mRNA vaccines and therapeutics by bringing your knowledge and project leadership in Research and Development to ensure the identification of innovation and delivery of Data Science programs as part of the Data and Computational Science team in the mRNA CoE. This team brings end to end data integration and advanced analytics (pre-clinical, biomarkers, process development, CMC, clinical) in the mRNA CoE. Deploying and exploiting digital solutions (AI/machine learning, data, analytics) to integrate the full data value chain, extracting actionable information for a move to a full data driven strategy and decision-making process, to increase probability of success and to accelerate mRNA vaccines and therapeutics development and launch. You will be the point of contact within different functions in the mRNA CoE and with the Digital and Data organization for one or more Data Science programs.

You will be accountable for:

  • Identifying opportunities and delivering the mRNA Research Data Science program roadmap to achieve scientific and business strategic objectives to deliver value and realize the benefits.

  • Participate in the establishment of mRNA R&D data science and digital roadmap

  • Coordinate multiple stakeholders within the mRNA CoE (research data scientists, mRNA scientists, Preclinical and Biomarker teams) and related activities involving data and computational solutions.

  • Coordinate with large and strategic programs outside of the CoE, with the Data and Digital Organization like Research Operations Foundation, Research Data Fabric and Scientific Compute AI platforms and be accountable for right prioritization and execution for the mRNA CoE, etc.

  • Facilitates the relationships of program teams, stakeholders and vendors and sets up and maintains detailed program and projects roadmaps and interactions

  • Ensure the program execution and be responsible for overall mRNA CoE program governance, planning, budget management, staffing (internal and external resources), communication & change management, risk management, compliance, and associated mitigations.

  • Reports on program progress, issues and achievements both to mRNA CoE LT and governance bodies

  • Pro-actively propose scenarios and prioritization in case of gaps, specificities, or risks, and facilitate alignment & endorsement by mRNA CoE LT and Digital RD LT

  • Chairs and manages program and projects reviews with the appropriate business areas and related service-line / strategic digital programs leaders

  • Takes the Business Project Leader/Product Owner role for selected projects and framing his program to get the appropriate project structure: Project Leaders, program governance, projects organization, communication, budget.

  • Maintain up-to-date several key project management tools to ensure program execution is on track, prioritize, schedule and monitor project milestones and communicate key decisions

  • Act as scrum master. Facilitate pod ceremonies throughout each sprint (daily standup, sprint planning, sprint demos, retrospectives, and backlog refinements). Contribute to preparing meeting agenda & minutes.

  • Guarantees final deliveries and consistency of the program solutions

Competencies / Requirements for position

About you

Qualifications/ Education & Work Experience

  • PhD or MS Degree in Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology Engineering, Bio Sciences or a technical and/or scientific discipline with strong understanding of mRNA synthesis, DNA sequence analysis, plasmid engineering, translational research, and biomarker

  • Project leadership or Product Owner and Agile methodology experience

  • 5 to 10 years direct work experience in R&D delivering Data Science or Digital related projects.

  • Tact, diplomacy, people skills, and excellent networking and communication (both oral and written) skills in general are important.

  • Highly flexible and adaptable individual able to thrive in a fast pace and transforming environment

  • Matrix leadership and influencing skills to create team spirit of excitement where all stakeholders feel committed to the objectives.

  • Change management with the capability to build team momentum for innovation

  • Strategic thinking to set a long-term roadmap for the mRNA CoE.

  • Analytical and problem solving oriented.

  • Experience in multiple functions and large projects lead and in understanding customer's voice and quality requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to ensure efficient relationship with all stakeholders and top management of the company

  • Fluent in English (speaking and writing)

  • Understanding of drug/vaccine discovery and development processes is a plus
