Position Title: Head, Clinical Data Analytics Products
Department: Digital Program & Services
Location: Cambridge, MA
The Head of Clinical Data Products will work closely with Sanofi’s Clinical Development organization to build digital capabilities that deliver on the promise of data, lean agile process, automation, and digital technology to transform R&D outcomes.
Working alongside the Sanofi Clinical Development organization and the rest of the Sanofi Digital organization, including software and data engineers and data scientists, the Head of Clinical Data Products will ensure that all clinical digital data products and foundational AI/analytics platforms and solutions and their supporting services are delivered to the highest standards of quality and performance and evolve in lockstep with clinical development activities including . S/he will have full accountability for strategy and execution on AI/ML data products supporting clinical development functions inclusive of real-world evidence across all therapeutic areas and geographic regions.
Examples of data products include analytics to support trial design optimization, AI to speed patient recruitment, prediction of sub-population response and toxicity based on clinical trial and real-world data analytics while also building a data fabric of re-useable clinical data assets The success of this role is measured by increasing value to clinical development functions, end user experience, agility of architecture, and speed of MVP build and scaled industrialization
The Head of Clinical Data Products will therefore directly contribute to the acceleration of Sanofi’s R&D pace by bringing data expertise in clinical functions, and ensuring the design, delivery and ongoing support of clinical data products while leveraging (among others) Sanofi’s enterprise global AI/ML platforms.
The ideal candidate will have the following set of skills and experience:
Digital Clinical Thought Leadership: Visionary with clear understanding of the trends and changing paradigm of clinical trials, leveraging disparate and globally dispersed data sources, breaking information silos, using data-driven decision-making, predictive analytics, and data science, to fuel efficiency and effectiveness and drive overall clinical organizational performance.
Clinical expert: the ideal candidates should have demonstrable Clinical experience with the understanding of broader R&D and RWE.
Delivery of End-User Clinical Data Products Solutions and Services: Experience in leading, providing direction and managing budgets for the clinical data product strategy, product / release roadmap and delivery using global, matrixed organization e.g., Digital Bio Markers, Formulate trial design, and Employ risk-based approaches for trial execution by leveraging machine learning and real-world data to power patient-centric design etc.
Process transformation experience: Experience in digital business process transformation to support existing & new data products/services, stakeholder experience, business models and deliver differentiated business value and outcomes.
Leadership & People Management: Track record of demonstrating ability to build and lead high-performance, multi-disciplinary, digital R&D delivery organizations, demonstrating through this process: strong leadership standards, promoting a business value focused culture and behaviors, influencing stakeholders, colleagues, and peers internally and external to the Global Digital Organization, as well as attracting, developing, and retaining top talent.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and lead definition of the Clinical Data Product strategy and roadmap
Frame the products and corresponding projects with appropriate governance structures, business leaders and product team members
Lead the delivery of the roadmap and roll-out of new clinical data solutions and platforms through agile and cross-functional teams of data scientists, data engineers, scrum masters, software engineers, product owners, and business analysts
Contribute to building the Digital Hybrid delivery model: centralize and standardize R&D platforms and solutions whenever possible while providing those required bespoke solutions to and developing and supporting the “R&D digital champions” located in, all major R&D centers
Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure security and regulatory compliance of clinical data products and solutions
Manage the relationships of program teams, stakeholders and vendors
Validate and manage resources, guarantees their availability, and arbitrate if needed, resources allocations
Report on program progress, issues and achievements both to Digital R&D LT and Research LT
Proactively propose scenarios and prioritization modifications in case of identified gaps, specificities or risks, and facilitate alignment and endorsement by the Digital R&D LT and Research LT
From design to delivery, ensure Clinical data Products deliver sound business value to Sanofi.
Minimum Required Skills:
10+ years technology Leadership and Management experience, within a large international and geographically distributed organization with cultural diversity.
A solid understanding of life sciences R&D broadly as well as specifical for clinical development functions inclusive of work and data flows, industry challenges, trends and opportunities and worldwide regulatory compliance requirements
Track record of success with AI/ML/ analytics product and solution DevOps and understanding of key trends and technologies.
Passionate about R&D in Life Sciences, able to translate the company’s mission to accelerate the development of life saving drugs into digital and data strategies and associated requirements for technology platforms and solutions.
Experience building roadmaps and prioritizing initiatives for transformation programs in the R&D digital and data platforms and solutions space.
A highly skilled communicator able to act as a trusted advisor to the Digital and Research leaders and oversee the design, implementation, integration, and delivery of Research platform solutions from the ground.
Expertise with data management and software engineering practices, architectures, tools/technologies and delivery management
Excellent oral and written communication.
Presentation and organizational skills, interpersonal skills to ensure efficient relationship with all stakeholders.
Proven ability to communicate and present effectively to senior leaders, cross-functional and cross-organizational teams.
Proven ability to lead, collaborate and influence teams without direct authority.
Education: Bachelor’s in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent, Certifications in Product Management/Agile preferred
