We’re investing €400m a year into the new Center, hiring a team of 400 dedicated employees for it and using it as the foundation to implement integrated end-to-end mRNA vaccine capabilities and research with R&D, digital and CMC teams.

About the Opportunity

As an experienced Senior Engineer/Scientist in the Global Drug Product Development group, you will focus on development, optimization and scale-up of mRNA lipid nanoparticle drug product development including encapsulation and purification processes with the ultimate goal of transferring at scale methods to either the internal or external manufacturing team for GMP manufacturing of mRNA lipid nanoparticles.

In this role you will….

Apply scientific expertise and judgement to initiate, design, direct, and execute development studies for mRNA-LNP drug product formulation and process
Use QbD principles to develop and improve scale down models for mRNA GMP drug product production to support process understanding, process criticality, and robustness studies
Perform routine and complex analytical methods while working toward continual improvement
Work independently, pro-actively, and be an impactful contributor to project teams
Analyze, interpret, and summarize results in reports and presentations
Proactively collaborate with other groups or sites in transfer of information, materials, and drug product technology
Make decisions that require developing new options to solve moderately complex problems
Promote innovation, state of the art technologies, and propose strategies using publications to improve the products and processes
Demonstrate continuous growth in depth and breadth of personal scientific knowledge and understanding of strategic goals of group, team, and company

Maintain a consistent record of publications, patents, external presentations.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:

Biochemistry, engineering or related degree; PhD with 3+ years, MS with 5+ years or BS with 7+ years’ experience. Experience in drug product development and industrialization is preferred.
Understanding of complex R&D landscapes globally, ability to identify cutting-edge technologies and new directions, strong academic and biotech/pharma scientific networks.
Experience with QbD approach in drug product development and industrialization preferred
Experience with LNP and sterile injectable drug product process strongly preferred
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Good oral communication, management, and interpersonal skills.
