That’s why we’re looking for bold, optimistic world-changers to join the team at our mRNA Center of Excellence. We’re investing €400m a year into the new Center, hiring a team of 400 dedicated employees for it and using it as the foundation to implement integrated end-to-end mRNA vaccine capabilities and research with R&D, digital and CMC teams.

About this opportunity:

As drug product development engineer, you will participate in process optimization and scale-up of mRNA-lipid nanoparticle (LNP) drug products for therapeutic (gene medicine) and vaccine modalities.

In this role you will….

  • Lead and support the optimization and scale-up of Bulk Drug Product (BDP) formulation and Final Drug Product (FDP) processes encompassing a wide range of different DS and multi-component LNPs

  • Perform routine and complex analytical methods with minimal supervision

  • Keep detailed records using an electronic laboratory notebook

  • Present experimental results to group and CMC teams as needed

  • Critical thinking and analysis of data will be central to all aspects of this position

  • Design, procure, and maintain equipment in the Process Development lab and pilot plant

  • Produce materials that is representative of cGMP material and suitable for nonclinical studies including GLP toxicology studies

  • Assist with preparation of technical reports and presentations to clearly communicate scientific findings as needed

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • BS/MS/PhD degree, preferably in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or in a similar field is required

  • BS & 5+ years’ experience / MS & 3+ years’ experience / PhD & 0 – 2 years’ experience working in a process development or tech transfer environment

  • Candidate with process development knowledge is highly desirable

  • Experience with LNP formulations of mRNA/siRNA would be beneficial

  • Previous work with mRNA (handling/isolation/quantification/characterization) is desired

  • Knowledge of mRNA and LNP characterization methods preferred

COMPETENCIES/SKILLS FOR SUCCESS

  • Capable of working in a collaborative team environment both within group and on interdisciplinary teams

  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to present findings to a diverse scientific group in a clear and concise manner is necessary
