Embedded Software Verification Engineer – Surgical Robotics

Job Description

Software Verification Engineer, Embedded Real-Time (Cambridge, MA)

Verify safety-critical embedded, real-time software that enables core robotic functions for a next-generation robotic surgery platform.

Your role:

  • Contribute to the development of a breakthrough robotic surgery platform by verifying embedded, real-time software that powers core robotic functions.
  • Collaborate closely with embedded software, systems, controls, and hardware engineering teams to investigate, reproduce, and document defects and to improve test coverage.
  • Influence a high-impact clinical product while growing your verification expertise in robotics and image-guided therapy within a global health-technology organization based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

You're the right fit if:

  • You have 2+ years of experience verifying embedded software for real-time systems (individual contributor role; no people leadership required).
  • You bring strong C++ programming skills and a solid understanding of embedded software architecture and constraints; you can break down complex problems and deliver practical solutions.
  • You have practical experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), embedded Linux, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and building automated and semi-automated test frameworks (e.g., Python plus embedded toolchains).
  • You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position.
  • You are comfortable interpreting requirements, producing traceable verification evidence, and working in regulated, multidisciplinary development environments; experience with medical devices, safety-critical systems, robotic motion control, or troubleshooting sensors/actuators is a plus.
