The Sustainability Director, North America is responsible for developing and executing the department’s strategic plan and vision, integrating sustainability strategies and policies across Business Units (BU) to achieve organizational success. The role leads sustainability projects with Business Units, customers and partners, ensuring alignment with environmental, economic, and social performance criteria and compliance with environmental and related regulations. The role also ensures that policies reflect industry standards and drive a culture of sustainability through overseeing training and awareness programs for employees.
Your role:
Lead customer and partner engagement across North America (NA), ensuring sustainability and access to care priorities actively influence pipeline progression, solution design, and deal outcomes. You will consult with Sales, support Request for Proposal (RFP) responses, and help quantify how Philips solutions advance customer commitments such as emissions reduction, NetZero targets, and improved access. Additionally, monitor the adoption of sustainability-enabled solutions across the region and use customer insights to shape BU sustainability strategies, ensuring our approach reflects real-world needs.
Steer measurable impact through programs that improve environmental performance, advance access and rural health initiatives and demonstrate clear pre/post value. You will analyze customers’ sustainability commitments, identifying opportunities to support their goals, and ensuring pilot implementations show tangible improvements in environmental footprint, access to care, cost of healthcare delivery and patient outcomes. You will provide expert guidance to both businesses and customers, integrating sustainability principles into strategic planning, decision-making, and solution development while ensuring projects meet environmental, social and economic performance criteria from conception through to completion.
Operationally, you strengthen regional capabilities by delivering training, enablement of assets, and cross functional support that elevate the organization’s sustainability maturity. In addition, you will oversee training and certification for Sales and Account Executive (AE) teams, develop playbooks and tools to improve customer engagement quality, and ensure timely delivery of sustainability enhancements requested by the market. You will lead North America thought leadership efforts, support policy and regulatory engagements, cultivate strategic partnerships with health systems, NGOs, payers, and agencies, and contribute to media and content development that elevates Philips’ reputation as a sustainability leader. Through this work, you help set and execute the strategic vision for Sustainability in NA, positioning the function as a key driver of long-term organizational success.
You're the right fit if:
You’ve acquired 8+ years of experience with a Bachelor's OR 6+ years of experience with Master's in areas such as Sustainability, Environmental Management, Corporate Social Responsibility or equivalent.
Your skills include environmental and social sustainability expertise, strong analytics and ability to leverage large data sets, business acumen, strategy and transformation, partnerships and multi-stakeholder management, leading without authority, business and impact development skillset, MD or PhD is a plus.
You have a Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science or equivalent.
You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position.
You're an Excellent communicator and team player; able to take a lead or support the team to achieve a complex goal; has a strong strategic thinking skills and yet pragmatism to enable implementation
How we work together
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

Philips Transparency Details
The pay range for this position in Nashville, TN is $159,000 - $253,000.
The pay range for this position in Cambridge, MA is $178,000- $283,000.
The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
In addition, other compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission or long-term incentives, may be offered. At Philips, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each case.
