Job Description
This position will be responsible for developing and implementing Infection Prevention & Control measures for Olympus Corporation of America (OCA). The candidate will be responsible for developing, reviewing and updating Olympus' concepts for safe reprocessing and use of Olympus medical devices with a view to infection prevention. The position will support the market evaluation and communication for new technologies, products, service and communication off offerings into the US (OAI), Latin America (OLA) and Canada (OCI).
Job Duties
- Build action plans for global infection prevention with Olympus affiliates based upon cross functional feedback
- Initiate execution of the action plans and monitor progress by using global communication tools such as a project tracker
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the global complaint handling process, health hazard assessments, and other relevant quality/regulatory documents.
- Support post market counteractions related to infection prevention or medical device reprocessing and communication with regulatory agencies.
- Identify key strategic partners for endoscope reprocessing and infection prevention for collaboration with Olympus.
- Work closely with marketing, R&D, business development and others when collaborative product validation initiatives are necessary with our strategic partners
- Establish and maintain relationships with professional societies and national associations related to Infection Control and Prevention. Represent Olympus at annual meetings, panels and summits as a contributor as well as observer, depending upon Olympus’ required role.
- Liaise with Marketing to develop and provide necessary materials for device reprocessing for all medical business units.
- Serve as Olympus representative with 3rd party vendors in related areas and manage intercompany communication, provision of equipment for testing, and the dissemination of information, as requested.
- Continuously review published literature in Infection Control and brings pertinent information to the attention of management and other stakeholders.
- Working in collaboration with Sales Business Centers, help identify and unify partnerships that can expand from regional to global. Cultivate relationships with the identified strategic partners working in combination with local SBC’s. This includes expanding partnerships into new areas and growing personal relationships with key partner executives
- Work with appropriate compliance, contracting and legal resources within Olympus to ensure proper processes are developed and followed.
- Working in combination with local SBC’s, provide regular communication to all necessary Olympus stakeholders to drive awareness and status updates of the partnership relationship.
- Perform other duties as required.
Job Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in scientific or related field (e.g. biology, microbiology, public health, health sciences) or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a healthcare, laboratory, or research role.
- Ability to travel 10-20% (domestic and international)
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology is highly preferred.
- Experience working in an infection prevention & control role is preferred.
- Knowledge of endoscope reprocessing and applicable guidelines/standards (e.g., AAMI, AORN, SGNA) is highly preferred.
- Proactive, resourceful and self-motivated.
- Ability to exemplify a high level of scientific acumen.
- Comfortable in delivering presentations to audiences in the medical and healthcare industry as well as providing training to internal and external personnel (e.g.: Olympus sales and marketing, physicians, nurses, C-suite, etc.).
- Familiarity with MS Office and other ancillary software is essential.
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory/quality regulations

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is $83,187.00 - $112,302.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position including: level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
