Job Description

As a Global Senior Manager working for the Olympus Digital Health (DH) business, you will be empowered and inspired to do your best work.

You will develop and implement strategies and tactics focused on the successful commercial launch, penetration, and profitability of current and future products within the Endoscopy Workflow Management (EWM) product vertical of the DH solution portfolio. You will help lead the team in the creation and commercial justification of a product road map, the development of user requirements based on Voice of Customer and technical/clinical knowledge, and the execution of global launch plans that successfully achieve business revenue and profit targets. Additionally, you will be an integral member of product realization processes, ensuring products remain focused on customer needs and aligned with the product road map. You will forge strong partnerships with Healthcare Professional (HCP) and IT experts within one or more Olympus-served specialty communities (e.g., gastrointestinal endoscopy, general surgery, otolaryngology, etc.), the Olympus worldwide sales business centers (SBCs), Service/Support, RA QA, and Operations functions to establish user requirements and establish product revenue/profit/market share potential. You will also independently develop a deep understanding of the market needs, market trends, competitive forces, and disruptive technologies in your product vertical. You will serve as a polished, articulate internal and external global evangelist of our digital health solutions, strategy, and its expanding impact on health outcomes. This role is global in scope.

Job Duties

  • Contribute to the discovery, development, definition and prioritization of new products and services for a Digital Heath Business product vertical, along with drive day-to-day commercialization readiness efforts of prioritized products, in close collaboration with global and regional marketing colleagues to ensure these solutions are commercially successful.
  • Regularly engage with external and internal stakeholders to accurately understand market needs; represent the customer and effectively use voice of the customer (VoC) insights in all phases of the product lifecycle. Through extensive external research (both primary and secondary), champion new product proposals that align with the portfolio strategy and road map. Lead VoC market research activities including interviews, surveys, requirements workshops, user groups, workflow analysis, and top-line business opportunity financial modeling.
  • Collaborate regularly with the Technical Product Managers (R&D) and Go-to-Market team (Marketing) to manage product and data lifecycles and artifacts. Together you will develop user profiles, customer journeys, personas, and provide input on training materials, along with product backlogs, acceptance test plans, engineering change orders, and defect triage.
  • Contribute to the development of a multi-year roadmap, clearly identifying and defending must-have from nice-to-have requirements. Backed by detailed market, technology, and competitive data, evangelize a strong vision for your product, holistically addressing considerations including user needs, performance, supportability, cost of ownership, configuration, etc.
  • Recommend technology and strategic partners to complete or complement your product(s). Develop rationale and business case.
  • Forge strong, trusting relationships with global and regional Go-to-Market team members to plan and execute market entries, deliver forecasts, ensure regulatory clearance, and training and marketing plans. Prioritize market entries based on revenue and profit objectives. After launch, work with downstream marketing counterparts to manage product lifecycle, including discontinuance, obsolescence, and regular updates. Monitor market feedback and customer feedback. Collaborate on multi-year product sales forecasts per region.
  • Manage your business for success by tracking and understanding business performance metrics including unit sales, revenue, ASP attainment, churn rate, annual recurring revenue, costs, and profitability.
  • Deeply understand the competitive landscape, provide product functionality and positioning information. Deliver insights and content to Marketing team to enable development of compelling market-facing content, collateral, campaigns, and training tools. Lead product validation efforts and contribute to internal product launch training.
  • Serve as go-to product expert participating at external events, thought-leadership activities, and forward-looking tenders/RFPs.
  • Manage beta, pilot, customer advisory, and user community programs as applicable.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • All other tasks as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a STEM discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of successful product management, including 5 years leading enterprise-class IT software products with 2 or more years managing B2B cloud-based products or services. Experience should include both product- and business-ownership of assigned products for multiple markets globally.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse cross-functional teams through influence rather than direct authority, with a high degree of autonomy, independence, passion and results-oriented drive.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills. Equally honed skills in creating and delivering presentations tailored to specific audiences: including technical, senior executives, customers and more.
  • Must be naturally inquisitive and have demonstrated experience distilling technical jargon into user-need simplified language that helps build evangelists of portfolio / product visions and strategies across a diverse range of audiences.
  • Track record of commercial success, particularly in high-cadence product delivery environments.
  • Ability to think and plan strategically and urgency to execute operationally.
  • Strong analytical ability, financial analysis and modeling.
  • Ability to regularly travel within the US and internationally, from 25% - 35%.

Preferred:

  • MBA
  • Experience with various commercial models especially subscription and leasing models, P&L, and business case development for software/cloud applications and platforms.
  • Healthcare IT/MedTech industry experience including tele-health, AI, machine learning, clinical workflow, analytics, HER, PACS, VNA, and/or clinical informatics.
  • Familiarity with medical procedures and typical clinical workflows in one or more of the following environments: endoscopic suites, operating rooms, outpatient specialty clinics and for one or more of the following clinical specialties: GI, respiratory, ENT, urology, surgery. · Leading products to commercial success in global, complex matrixed environments.
  • Ability to make high-stakes, well-reasoned, and timely decisions with incomplete information.
  • Ability to rapidly establish credibility with key R&D, executive, partner, and customer stakeholders.
  • Mature technical and business judgement.
  • Tolerance for ambiguity, flexibility, and a passion to be part of a new and rapidly evolving business
