About the Role (Job Summary)

McKesson Canada is seeking a licensed Journeyman Electrician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment within our facilities. In this hands-on role, you will support safe, reliable facility operations by maintaining industrial electrical equipment, completing preventive maintenance, and responding to electrical issues. You will collaborate with facilities professionals and other skilled trades while ensuring work complies with the Canadian Electrical Code, applicable provincial requirements, and company safety policies.

Shift: 8:30PM - 5AM Sun-Thu.

Target Salary: 85-90K (depending on individual experience)

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Install, inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical systems, components, and equipment using electrical blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on motors, motor controls, electrical panels, lighting, circuits, and power distribution systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical issues, including power interruptions, short circuits, wiring faults, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Complete electrical installations and modifications that support new equipment, machinery, facility upgrades, and expansion projects.
  • Test electrical systems and components using appropriate electrical testing equipment to identify faults and confirm safe operation.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, electrical parts, and completed work.
  • Coordinate electrical work with facility management, contractors, and other skilled trades, and provide technical guidance to electrical apprentices when required.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency electrical repairs, where applicable.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support company and facility goals.

Basic Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Valid Journeyperson Electrician certification, Red Seal endorsement, or recognized provincial equivalent.
  • Experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems in an industrial, commercial, manufacturing, distribution, or comparable facility environment.
  • Demonstrated experience reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and applicable provincial electrical and workplace safety requirements.

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Experience with programmable logic controllers, commonly referred to as PLCs, motor controls, variable frequency drives, and industrial control panels.
  • Experience supporting electrical systems in a warehouse, distribution centre, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or regulated facility.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs or computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Experience providing technical guidance or mentorship to electrical apprentices.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to coordinate work with internal teams, vendors, contractors, and other skilled trades.
  • Valid driver’s licence and acceptable driving record, if driving is required for the position.

Travel, In-Office, and Physical Requirements

  • This is an on-site position supporting electrical and facility operations.
  • Ability to work in electrical rooms, mechanical spaces, confined spaces, and at heights when required and when appropriate safety controls are in place.
  • Ability to use ladders, lifts, electrical testing instruments, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, and lift or move equipment and materials consistent with the requirements of the position.
  • Availability for scheduled on-call coverage, emergency repairs, overtime, or alternate shifts may be required based on facility needs.
  • Travel between company facilities may be required. The specific percentage should be added before posting if travel is expected.
