About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Operational Excellence (Lean Six Sigma) to lead process improvement initiatives across our field operations and distribution network. This role leads a team of process improvement consultants and partners with operations leaders to drive measurable improvements in productivity, quality, service, and cost.

You’ll own a portfolio of high-impact initiatives, influence senior stakeholders, and scale continuous improvement capabilities across a multi-site network. This role is ideal for a leader who thrives in complex operational environments and delivers sustainable results through Lean Six Sigma methodologies.

Candidates must be located in the Richmond, VA area or near a Medical-Surgical Distribution Center for consideration. Large Distribution Centers are located in Dallas TX, Columbus OH, Atlanta GA, Phoenix AZ, and Denver CO.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead a portfolio of operational excellence initiatives across multiple distribution centers, focusing on productivity, quality, service levels, and cost reduction
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of process improvement consultants; set direction, prioritize work, and ensure delivery of measurable outcomes
  • Partner with field operations, supply chain, and executive leadership to identify and prioritize high-value improvement opportunities
  • Drive end-to-end continuous improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma tools (DMAIC, root cause analysis, process mapping)
  • Standardize methodologies for project governance, benefit tracking, and sustainment across the network
  • Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives, ensuring solutions are practical, scalable, and adopted by field teams
  • Build organizational capability through coaching, training, and promoting continuous improvement best practices
  • Leverage data analytics, automation, and digital tools to enhance operational performance and visibility
  • Communicate progress, risks, and results clearly to senior leadership
  • Guide direct reports in applying digital tools to day-to-day processes
  • Partner with distribution center leadership to implement automation, AI, and digital tools that improve warehouse operations, increase productivity, and reduce cycle times
  • Champion data-driven decision-making by enhancing visibility into KPIs such as inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, and labor utilization, ensuring solutions are scalable and tied to business impact

Basic Requirements (Minimum Education & Experience)

  • Degree or equivalent experience
  • 9+ years of professional experience and 1+ years of people leadership experience
  • Experience leading process improvement, operational excellence, or transformation initiatives in supply chain, distribution, or manufacturing environments
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams or leading cross-functional initiatives
  • Proven experience delivering measurable operational improvements (cost, productivity, service, quality)
  • Hands-on experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification
  • Experience leading multi-site or network-level transformation initiatives
  • Strong data analysis and performance measurement experience (KPIs, dashboards)
  • Experience influencing senior leaders and driving change in matrixed organizations
  • Experience with automation, AI tools, or digital transformation initiatives
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and change management skills

Work Environment & Travel

  • Preferred location: Richmond, VA or proximity to distribution centers
  • Travel required (estimated 10-20%) to support field operations and onsite initiatives
  • Combination of office and warehouse/distribution center environments

$102,000 - $170,000
