Senior Staff Accountant

The Senior Staff Accountant position is a key role within IntelyCare’s Finance Department. We are looking for a highly motivated, detailed, and organized individual to join our team. This position will be part of a team responsible for driving the monthly close and will be directly responsible for all aspects of general accounting and reconciliations. This is a hands-on position, and the ability to multi-task and work with others is critical. You will interact with other departments daily.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Record the company’s business activities by preparing journal entries and supporting schedules, and maintaining records and files
  • Reconcile bank statements
  • Review, maintain, and reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts monthly, ensuring balances and activity are complete, accurate and properly supported
  • Investigate and resolve account discrepancies
  • Perform income statement expense allocations to departments, states, markets, etc.
  • Assist with preparing schedules and providing support for the annual financial statement audit, tax returns, and other financial audits
  • Cross train with, and provide back-up support to, the Billing & Revenue Accountant, the Accounting Clerk, and the AR Team
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures
  • Create and maintain a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual with documentation of accounting policies and processes
  • Work with other departments to find solutions to problems
  • Collaborate on department and company-wide initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of public accounting or 4 years of industry accounting work experience with increasing abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Table, Lookup functions, etc.) required
  • Oracle NetSuite experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Team-oriented self-starter with a desire to learn and understand the business
  • Critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills and naturally inquisitive, with the ability to spot discrepancies and issues and bring them to resolution or formulate and communicate recommendations
  • Ability to produce timely and accurate work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Ability to effectively work with minimal supervision, work independently and as part of the team
  • Strong organization and time management skills, including the ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
