Roles and Responsibilities

This position will provide the selected candidate with a great opportunity to partner with GE Healthcare’s Patient Care Solutions (PCS) business. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the business to develop, implement, and adapt IP and commercial strategies to deliver innovative products and services across the entire continuum of healthcare.

- Provide counsel and advise clients on a broad range of various domestic and international intellectual property issues across the PCS business;
- Work closely with product development teams to develop IP strategies using various types of IP to develop meaningful IP assets;
- Collaborate with inside and outside counsel on M&A transactions (mergers, acquisitions, collaborations, minority investments, joint ventures, etc.) from the initial stages of entering into non-disclosure agreements and non-binding letters of intent to the negotiation and drafting of binding transaction documents, the consummation of the transaction and post-closing integration matters;
- Ensure patent filings are of high quality on commercially significant inventions by working with R&D, business managers and marketing;
- Provide deep patent analysis expertise to support business development, licensing, and freedom to practice analyses;
- Draft and negotiate agreements with significant IP considerations;
- Work closely with other lawyers in addressing mixed intellectual property/general legal issues;
- Contribute to cross-functional teams; and
- Leverage data to drive continuous improvement across the IP function.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
- Minimum of 7 years of diverse experience in the field of intellectual property, including patent work, transactional work & counseling.
- Demonstrated experience providing counseling and due diligence support in the context of M&A transactions.
- Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office or as a European Patent Attorney.
- Interest in a hybrid working role with 3+ days at a GE HealthCare location in Waukesha, Wisconsin or Chicago, Illinois.
- Member in good standing with at least one state bar association.

- Patent application preparation and prosecution experience.
- At least 2 years of prior experience as a member of the technology, sales and marketing, or legal functions in a corporate environment.
