Job Description Summary

The US Power Manufacturing Launch Manager, within the Defense & Systems Chief Manufacturing Engineering Team, will work cross-functionally on New Product Introduction Programs to identify manufacturing readiness risks and lead teams to integrate & execute risk abatement activities during the new product development cycle. The manufacturing launch manager is also responsible for collaborating with manufacturing development labs and rate production teams to identify & execute manufacturing source transition plans that support post certification product cost and delivery targets.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Organize and lead projects related to new product introductions, new equipment, lay-out, and optimization
  • Includes Advanced Manufacturing Engineers, New product introduction (NPI) and NPI Manufacturing Engineers
  • Collaborate with NPI Integrated Product Team Peers to provide cost & schedule details (for the NPI program plan) of manufacturing process development, hardware/asset build(s), and manufacturing readiness risk abatement actions
  • Lead Supply Chain cross-functional team in preparation for and progression through the NPI Tollgate (TG) and Manufacturing Review processes
  • Lead cross-functional team to identify Supply Chain inputs and strategic plan for new product proposals
  • Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) Owner - facilitate assessment (MRA) and drive maturation plan if required
  • Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation
  • Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services
  • Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations
  • May influence and lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 12 years of experience in a Manufacturing role)
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, new product, new manufacturing process, or new facility introductions

Eligibility Requirement

  • Must be flexible for local travel to one of our sites within the Dayton, OH/Northern Cincinnati area 1-3 times per week
  • This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status.

Desired Characteristics

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Previous experience with Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) process, and/or NPI Tollgate processes
  • Previous experience in risk abatement/contingency planning in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience with electronic manufacturing processes
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
  • Established project management skills

This position may be eligible for the following flexible work arrangements (FWA):
