Join us as we work to create a thriving ecosystem that delivers accessible, high-quality, and sustainable healthcare for all.

The Dental zone delivers athena's dental provider application for the FQHC market, enabling community health centers to manage the unique complexities of dental revenue cycle management. As Group Product Manager, you will lead a team of 2-4 product managers while serving as the domain expert who shapes our dental product strategy and roadmap. You'll work with a diverse set of stakeholders to solve complex dental billing and revenue cycle challenges. Your dual mandate is to drive measurable product outcomes that directly contribute to athenahealth’s goals while building and developing a high-performing product team that can scale our impact across the growing FQHC dental market.

What You'll Do

Domain Leadership & Strategic Direction

  • Serve as the recognized domain expert in dental revenue cycle management for FQHCs, including deep understanding of dental-specific billing workflows, CDT coding, state Medicaid dental programs, and FQHC regulatory requirements
  • Develop and own the multi-year dental product roadmap that balances FQHC market needs, competitive positioning, and Collector strategic priorities
  • Evaluate and prioritize product optimization opportunities sourced from FQHC customers, internal stakeholders, and market analysis to maximize product value and revenue cycle outcomes
  • Monitor dental industry trends, state Medicaid policy changes, FQHC regulatory developments, and competitor activity to inform product direction and strategy
  • Directly contribute to Collector zone goals through delivery of high-impact dental capabilities that drive measurable improvements in claim acceptance rates, payment accuracy, and revenue cycle efficiency

Team Leadership & Development

  • Hire, coach, and mentor a team of 2-4 product managers
  • Align team members with company objectives by translating Collector and athenahealth strategic priorities into clear team goals and individual development plans
  • Provide the right opportunities at the right time to strengthen and support staff performance, including stretch assignments, customer engagement, and cross-functional project leadership
  • Conduct regular performance feedback and career development conversations that provide specific, actionable guidance for team growth
  • Build team capacity to independently own and drive dental product initiatives while maintaining appropriate oversight and strategic direction
  • Foster culture of experimentation, learning from failure, and continuous improvement within the team

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate closely with UX, analytics, and engineering leadership to envision and design future state dental capabilities
  • Act as voice of FQHC dental customers, communicating needs and opportunities, supporting resolution of escalations, and advocating for dental-specific requirements in platform decisions
  • Build and sustain cooperative relationships with key internal leaders and FQHC customers
  • Partner with Operations teams to ensure early engagement on resourcing needs, implementation planning, and change management for dental product releases
  • Influence stakeholders without direct authority through clear communication, data-driven recommendations, and collaborative problem-solving

Execution & Communication

  • Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations regarding dental product status, strategies, market opportunities, and business outcomes
  • Support internal product operations and communications to enhance change management and product adoption for dental capabilities
  • Ensure clear documentation of dental product vision, strategy, and requirements to enable efficient cross-functional execution
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to product management best practices across Collector

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in relevant disciplines; advanced degree preferred
  • 8-12 years of progressive experience in product management, ideally with at least a year managing and developing product managers
  • Proven track record of developing and executing multi-year product roadmaps that drive measurable business outcomes
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional leadership teams
  • Skilled in stakeholder influence without direct authority and effective communication with executives, customers, and technical teams
  • Track record of balancing strategic vision with tactical execution, knowing when to dive into details and when to empower team ownership
  • Direct experience with FQHC operations, UDS reporting requirements, or community health center revenue cycle management strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with dental practice management systems, CDT coding, and dental-specific billing complexities preferred
