Role Summary:
Join athenahealth as a Financial Planning and Analysis Manager, a key role designed to drive insightful financial decision-making and strategic planning. The successful candidate will report directly to the FP&A Director and will contribute to shaping the financial future of the company through advanced analytics and collaborative business partnering.

Team Summary:
The Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team plays a critical role in an organization by providing financial insights and strategic guidance to support decision-making. Their primary responsibilities include budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing financial performance to help the company meet its financial goals. The team collaborates with various departments to gather data, build financial models, and conduct variance analysis to explain differences between actual results and forecasts.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models to support business planning and forecasting.
  • Manage capacity models related to vendor costs and headcount across multiple divisions.
  • Analyze monthly financial results and variances, providing actionable insights to leadership.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data and validate assumptions for forecasts and budgets.
  • Prepare and present financial reports and management packages to senior stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and reporting accuracy.
  • Support the annual budgeting process and periodic reforecasting activities.

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed.
  • Participate in the evaluation of new business opportunities and financial impact assessments.
  • Support system implementations and upgrades related to financial planning tools.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices and standard operating procedures within the FP&A team.
  • Engage in cross-departmental initiatives to enhance overall financial performance.
  • Monitor industry trends and benchmark financial metrics to inform strategic planning.

Expected Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • 3-7 years of progressive finance experience, preferably in financial planning and analysis.
  • Exceptional financial analytics skills with advanced modeling capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of conveying complex financial information clearly and effectively.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic setting.

Expected Compensation

$104,000 - $178,000

The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates. Base pay is only one part of our competitive Total Rewards package - depending on role eligibility, we offer both short and long-term incentives by way of an annual discretionary bonus plan, variable compensation plan, and equity plans.
