Product Operations Manager – Data & Ecosystem Platform

athenahealth is building the future of healthcare technology—and we’re looking for a Product Operations Manager to help us get there. In this individual contributor role, you’ll drive strategy, execution, and operational excellence across a portfolio of high-impact features that power our Data & Ecosystem Platform.

Based in Boston, MA or Belfast, ME, you’ll join the Product Operations team, which delivers analytics-based, consultative guidance rooted in best practices across the software development lifecycle. As part of athenahealth’s mission to build a connected, scalable, and future-ready healthcare platform, you’ll support a portfolio of features that enable frictionless integration across providers, payers, labs, and public health systems; drive open ecosystem innovation through APIs and partner solutions; and leverage data-driven insights to improve clinical and operational outcomes in value-based care.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in cross-functional collaboration, embraces agile ways of working, and brings an AI-first mindset to drive operational excellence and smarter decision-making in a digital-first environment. We are looking for a mission-driven, innovative, and outcomes-oriented leader to help advance athenahealth’s Product organization and contribute to improving the healthcare industry.

You bring a passion for improving healthcare and a self-starter mindset that drives meaningful outcomes. With strong stakeholder management skills, you influence across teams and levels, navigate complex environments with empathy, and collaborate effectively with diverse cross-functional partners. You understand the software development process and balance strategic thinking with pragmatic problem-solving. Comfortable in a fast-paced setting, you prioritize and manage multiple complex projects while exercising sound judgment on when to act independently or escalate. You also embody a growth mindset and resourcefulness, continuously seeking opportunities for development and leveraging available tools to drive success.

What You'll Own

As a Product Operations Manager for the Data & Ecosystem Platform team, you’ll primarily support features across multiple scrum teams and zones, with occasional collaboration across subdivisions. You’ll play a key role in major change management initiatives, driving product management and release best practices across R&D and release readiness stakeholders. Your work will be embedded in team and R&D operating cadences, including teach-and-learns, workstreams, and release readiness activities.

You’ll own zone-level portfolio strategy and execution across three to four zones, ensuring strong roadmap outcomes and proactive optimization from Boulder to Done. This includes conducting monthly portfolio reviews with zone leaders, aligning strategic priorities with internal and external customer roadmaps, and clearly articulating value at both the feature and aggregate levels.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree required

  • 7-10 years overall professional experience, with 3-5 years in product operations, product management, or related fields

  • Strong knowledge of product management and/or applicable healthcare domains (revenue cycle, EHR, population health, patient engagement)

  • Understanding and experience with interoperability, integrations, value-based care, and leveraging payer connections preferred

  • Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and SDLC best practices

  • Highly self-driven, with the ability to teach and learn at a fast pace

  • Skilled in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management across multiple zones

  • Uses data and metrics to inform prioritization and process improvements

  • Communicates effectively across teams and with cross-functional partners (e.g., release readiness, product analytics, UX)

  • Contributes to customer-centric planning and execution

  • Experience with client communications in a B2B setting preferred

Travel & Onsite Expectations
