Corporate Strategy and Development Senior Associate
We are looking for a Senior Associate to join our Corporate Strategy & Development (CS&D) team.
In this role, the Corporate Strategy and Development Senior Associate will report to the Executive Director of Corporate Strategy and Development. This role offers the opportunity both to have full ownership over meaningful, growth-oriented projects and also to provide tactical support on priority initiatives such as strategic planning, transformative business cases, acquisitions, and other Board / Executive Leadership priorities. The Senior Associate is highly visible and will regularly interact with leadership across the company while showcasing skills in analysis and critical thinking.
The Corporate Strategy and Development Senior Associate will be future oriented, pragmatic, analytical, and have demonstrated a professional services skillset. This individual should have prior experience in entry-level consulting, product-management, or investment banking roles. The Senior Associate will possess a high degree of professionalism and, given the subject matter of our work, possess unimpeachable ethics and a deep respect for confidentiality.
The CS&D team sits at the intersection of our Executive Leadership, private equity sponsors, and industry leading product platform. The team drives growth-oriented decisions such where and how athenahealth competes, where resources are deployed, and is the owner of our acquisition roadmap. athenahealth is in an exciting period in its history as the company continues to grow in its core markets and builds a repeatable model for business expansion.
Job Responsibilities
Structure analytical projects in a manner that reflects an understanding of the overall context, problem, and key project hypotheses
Execute research projects using a variety of primary and secondary sources to inform the evaluation of growth opportunities, assessment of critical competitive or market issues, and diligence or partnerships/acquisitions
Develop, update, and refine analytics/excel models to identify issues and opportunities on topics such as: market evaluation and sizing, investment cases, and tracking of internal programs
Monitor competitive landscape, elevating key developments to leadership and providing interpretative analysis as needed including maintaining an internal quantitative market model
Translate analytic output and conclusions into meaningful and compelling communications
Support the senior members of the team by contributing to the creation and refinement of major deliverables, often owning your own work stream
Contribute directly to the annual strategic planning and monitoring process including preparation of related materials for presentation to the ELT and Board of Directors
Typical Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with proven high achievement
1+ years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, or relevant corporate role
Strong intellectual curiosity and interest in healthcare
Demonstrated unyielding attention to detail and analytical accuracy
Strong aptitude for critical thinking and interest in complex problem solving
Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel
