The Opportunity:
You will fill a critical role in our Clinicals team within our Product Management organization where you will drive product design, development and deployment of workflows and services related to our electronic health record product. You will do so in an exciting, collaborative and fast-paced environment driven by a desire to enable more efficient and effective care. In this role, you will work closely with multidisciplinary team members to drive execution of high-quality solutions to complex problems that delight users and deliver business results.

Position Summary:


The Product Manager is responsible for one product area within their overarching athenaClinicals Product’s portfolio; specifically, this role is focusing on identifying and implementing enhancements to clinical ordering and services workflows that will improve efficiency and increase satisfaction. In this role, you will have a deep understanding the market and customer, contributing to a product vision, developing business cases, ensuring a product or set of product features meets business requirements and driving the creation and delivery of the product. This position will work daily within scrum teams defining and writing user stories, prioritizing product backlogs, and making trade off decisions between scope and schedule.

This is a hybrid role with the expectation to be in the Boston office one day a week.

The Team: Our Services & Task zone is a passionate group of Product Management, Engineering, UX, Analytic and Patient Safety professionals. We collaborate to deliver an efficient, tailored, and intuitive experience for our healthcare providers so they can deliver high quality patient care.


Responsibilities:

  • Drive ongoing backlog allocations and prioritization of customer jobs to solve within area of responsibility

  • Define epics and user stories, clearly articulating business requirements for the problems we’re trying to solve - including UX/CX/Support requirements

  • Understand the market opportunity via user needs, market forces and applicable business models; with regards to what would best serve our clients today as well as in the future

  • Identify and track metrics and success criteria to create transparency and visibility to program success and opportunities for improvement – Requesting analyses to inform backlog

  • Partner with Product Management leaders to be the voice of product decisions within the organization

  • Represent the customer for assigned product area, demonstrating responsibility for end-to-end customer journey and touchpoints

  • Assist Product Management leaders in identifying business opportunities that will drive product success (including pricing and/or build/buy decisions)

Cross-Functional Coordination and Stakeholder Management:

  • Serve as Product Owner for scrum teams covering assigned product area

  • Help to remove obstacles to effective and efficient product delivery from scrum teams

  • Support feature rollouts through alpha, beta and general availability by collaborating with customer-facing teams, analyzing feature impact, and preparing communications

  • Establish effective relationships with key stakeholders across athena in order to streamline processes of gathering ideas/inputs that improve product decisions

  • Partner with Product Management leaders to drive portfolio and product strategy

  • Act as accountable party for the portfolio and product strategy of assigned product area, via product roadmaps

  • Provide input to PRSM/portfolio planning process for assigned product area

  • Collaborate with others to develop expertise in market and competition for your services; understanding what's next and when to stay the course

  • Engage with Sales, AM, Product Marketing, and other internal partner teams as needed to determine best ways to communicate product to customers; and to assist Product Management leadership with service descriptions

  • Contribute to the development of overall product management team by lending your knowledge and experience to teach others what you know

  • Travel requirements: 10%-15%


Typical Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required

  • Understanding of healthcare / health IT environment preferred

  • 5+ years of overall professional experience; 2-4 years of formal product management experience or related experience driving results cross-functionally

  • Agile experience or certification a plus

  • Experience working with stakeholders in a business environment across global cross-functional groups

  • Technical understanding (mobile, SaaS, data) – ability to gut check technical feasibility and timelines and remove technical development barriers

  • Experience bringing products to market

  • Understanding of product management best practices, including agile development environments

  • Demonstrated success at driving innovative results in a fast-paced environment and managing simultaneously competing priorities using analytic and quantitative capabilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain your positioning to stakeholders throughout the company in an effective way
