We are looking for a Senior Product Management Associate to join our Product Management team within our athenaCollector division. Your job will involve learning the business problems our zone builds software to address, developing strategies to improve the current state functionality of our products, and implementing solutions to maximize business value of Collector’s portfolio. This includes understanding the market and customer, contributing to a product vision, developing business cases, & driving the creation and delivery of the product.
The Team:
The Billing Workflows zone supports key client facing workflows and core technical components that orchestrate the claim lifecycle, from charge capture to claim validation, submission, and management. We are a passionate team of product, engineering, UX, and analytics professionals driven to maximize revenue cycle efficiency and effectiveness for our athenaCollector clients.
This is a hybrid role with the expectation to be in the Boston, MA office one day/week.
The Opportunity:
We are looking for a Senior Product Management Associate to help guide product discovery, development and delivery as we look to drive scale, transparency, and tech modernization of our claims submissions workflows and infrastructure. Claim submissions is a business-critical component by being responsible for the successful delivery of hundreds of thousands of claims a day to hundreds of payers on behalf of tens of thousands of providers, across multiple claim formats and delivery mechanisms.

You push towards the best long-term solution and know how to execute outcome-focused roadmaps, making tough tradeoff decisions between scope and schedule. You have extremely strong written and verbal communication skills and are able to use them to effectively articulate business problems and lead cross-functional teams to build impactful solutions while being able to evangelize your product vision both internally and to our customers.
Job Responsibilities
Understands team responsibility within the athenahealth ecosystem & accordingly conceptualizes product/feature definitions to deliver value
Focuses on business problems before solutions
Serves as Product Owner for scrum teams covering assigned product area(s)
Defines roadmaps, OKRs, epics and user stories that clearly address business problems
Maintains an analytic / problem solving mentality
Exercises value driven prioritization
Able to make tough decisions and contribute to the product vision within the organization
Communicate equally well with customer-facing teams as with Engineering teams & leading the conversation to planned outcomes
Employs strong negotiation & logical-reasoning skills to ensure making the right tradeoffs
Support feature rollouts through alpha, beta and general availability by collaborating with customer-facing teams, analyzing feature impact, and preparing communications
Typical Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required
2-5 years overall professional experience, inclusive of a minimum of 0-3 years of product management experience and with a focus on working with stakeholders across cross-functional groups
Prior experience in healthcare and Revenue Cycle Management workflows is a plus
Technical understanding (e.g., SaaS) – ability to gut check technical feasibility and timelines and remove technical development barriers, preferred
Understanding of product management best practices, including agile development, preferred
Experience with analytics and data-driven decision-making
Demonstrated success at driving innovation in a dynamic environment using analytic and quantitative capabilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain your positioning to key stakeholders around the company in an effective way
