Senior Designer

We are looking for a Senior Designer UX to join our Forge Design System team within our Platform division. Your job will be to work closely with a multi-disciplinary agile R&D team to define, design, write copy, and test new features with the goal of creating valuable and delightful experiences for the users of our Forge design system.

The Team: Our Forge Design System team is responsible for developing features that allow designers and developers to quickly and efficiently design consistent experiences across athenahealth products. Not only do we provide the visual UI building blocks, but we also provide valuable guidance on Forge best practices for putting them to use. We also view our users as an extension of our team, helping them successfully contribute new design system building blocks back into the design system for reuse.

Job Responsibilities

  • Identify and frame user-centered problems effectively

  • Engage end users in user research to validate designs and content

  • Apply instructional design and ux writing skills to guide users to success

  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams throughout the agile planning, design, and development process to deliver released product that meets design intent

  • Collaborate with your team to ensure product features meet UX quality standards for workflow, interaction design, and copy

Typical Qualifications

  • A degree in Instructional Design, User Experience, Visual Design, Technical Writing, or similar

  • Experience working as the sole designer on a project and leading that effort

  • At least 5 years of working as a UX professional

  • Ability to easily converse with engineers on technical details

  • Proficient in design and information architecture skills

  • Experience creating and maintaining a design system

  • Experience using a design system to produce design deliverables

  • Experience using a Mac and Figma
