Brief Overview:

The Observability team drives visibility and performance optimizations for our Converge platform by providing frameworks and tools that allow all Amwell engineers and developers to better understand the behavior of features, services, and infrastructure they own and maintain. The Observability team assists product, support, and systems teams monitor the platform, reduce operational overhead, and deliver unmatched availability to our customers.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to Elastic Cloud migration project
  • Manage cloud infrastructure for the Observability platform
  • Implement, maintain, and deploy performance monitoring tools covering application & infrastructure telemetry and logs, metric visualizations and alerting management
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure our services and infrastructure are observable
  • Collect, aggregate, and visualize system performance metrics to provide actionable insights
  • Establish processes, tools, and practices for responding to critical issues in production systems
  • Create and maintain documentation to ensure best practices are followed
  • Ensure strict compliance with regulations such as HIPAA and PCI
  • Develop tools and training to expedite teams gaining deeper insights into application performance and service health issues reducing their MTTD and MTTR

Qualifications:

  • 2+ year experience configuring, deploying, and maintaining ELK stacks
  • 2+ years of experience software engineering, Dev/Ops and/or SRE
  • Experience with development and deployment in a hosted cloud environment like AWS
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (terraform, cdktf, hcl)
  • Familiar with system performance optimization, scalability, architecture, and design concepts
  • Proficiency with Java and/or NodeJS
  • Proficiency in a shell scripting language
  • Experience managing and responding to alerts and providing fast feedback
  • Experience managing containers using Docker/Kubernetes
  • Proficiency with SCM (Git)
  • An ability to work well as part of a distributed team
  • Passionate about observability in the healthcare/telemedicine domain
