Brief Overview:

The Data QA Engineer will be responsible for testing and maintaining test cases on the Data Platform team. They need to verify data mappings and reports on our reporting tool and should be well versed with ETL process. Should be able to understand reporting requirements and write test cases and execute them in a timely manner. Perform Regression during releases and UAT demos to the Product team.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Validating ETL results, data completeness, and data integrity against established business requirements and data definitions
  • Create, test and maintain the test case and test plan documents to inspect and verify multiple client implementations according to specifications.
  • Prepare SQL queries to test the data accuracy and quality
  • Conduct regression and functional testing to ensure the quality of production data sources
  • Contributing to the improvement of the quality assurance processes
  • Ensure that tested functionalities are well documented
  • Translate business requirements into test scenarios and test cases
  • Being proactive and taking initiative by engaging with business stakeholders and team members to comprehensively understand issues and propose solutions.
  • Understanding of the SDLC (Software Development life cycle) and Knowledge of Scrum, Agile

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required. Preferred in Computer Science or related degree
  • 5+ years of Software Quality Assurance testing experience.
  • At least three years of experience in the QA field with focus on testing data mappings/ETL flow and reports.
  • Working knowledge of any reporting tool (looker) is required.
  • Strong experience with SQL is a must. Good to have PL/SQL knowledge as well.
  • Working knowledge of AWS and GCP cloud platforms.
  • Hands on experience writing simple/complex queries on Bigquery and Redshift databases.
  • Ability to read and understand Python scripts is good to have.
  • Good understanding of QA processes and methodologies - test planning, test cases, bug tracking systems and software development life cycle
  • Knowledge of CI/CD, source control tools is required.
  • Strong analytical skills and keen understanding of business processes.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and ability to demo the reporting requirements and outcomes to the Product team.
  • Good understanding of data warehouse architecture and ETL processes
  • The capability to tackle problems independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Down-to-earth, creative, self-driven and friendly personality
