Advocates for Human Potential ("AHP") is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support budgeting, invoicing, and financial reporting across multiple projects and grants. This role is critical in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting to internal teams and external clients. The ideal candidate will be a proactive team player with strong technical and analytical skills with a deep understanding of general ledger accounting and project finance.

This is a hybrid role with 1 to 3 days in our Sudbury MA office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with preparing and analyzing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flows
  • Review reconciliations and conduct project financial analysis
  • Assist with annual audit process
  • Provide guidance and expertise to the NetSuite implementation process
  • Develop and manage budgets for proposals and active projects
  • Provide budget planning, monitoring, and reporting to project staff
  • Manage monthly invoicing and collections processes for assigned projects
  • Fulfill federal and state grant/project financial reporting requirements
  • Perform other finance-related tasks and projects, as assigned

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in an accounting or finance department with increasing responsibility or equivalent demonstrable skills and experience. We recognize that valuable experience can be gained through diverse pathways, including non-traditional roles, intensive project-based work, or advanced certifications/degrees.[SL1]
  • Experience in public accounting or a similar audit role is a plus. Alternatively, demonstrated expertise in robust internal controls and audit preparation processes will be considered.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) preferred[SL2]
  • Experience with NetSuite ERP, NetSuite Suite Projects Pro and NetSuite Budgeting & Planning
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and responsiveness to deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proactive in identifying issues
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills
  • Clear and concise communication skills
  • Reliable team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead when needed

Work Environment:

This is a hybrid role, requiring regular in-person collaboration with finance and project teams in Massachusetts to support core team functions and relationship-building. We currently ask for a minimum of three days per week in the office, while offering flexibility and remote work options for the remaining days. We are committed to supporting work-life integration. Candidates must be adept at prioritizing tasks, managing multiple projects efficiently, and effectively meeting deadlines. Our team strives for clear communication and process optimization to manage workload sustainably.

Work Hours and Expectations:
This is a full-time, exempt position. As such, the role is not eligible for overtime compensation under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). While the standard workweek is 40 hours, exempt employees are expected to work the hours necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. This may include occasional evenings or extended hours during periods of high activity, critical deadlines, or special projects. Flexibility, accountability, and a results-oriented mindset are essential to success in this role.

Location

All work must be performed within the United States or its territories. Employees are required to reside in, and carry out their job responsibilities from, a location within the U.S. or a U.S. territory for the duration of their employment. Limited exceptions may be granted for short-term personal or business travel outside of these areas, subject to prior written approval and in compliance with company policy.

Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000

AHP, in an effort to be transparent with applicants about salary and in compliance with various state pay disclosure requirements, publishes the following information, which is current as of the date of posting. The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the AHP salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be high or low in the range based on various factors, including but not limited to location, experience, and education. The range listed is just one component of AHP’s total compensation package for employees.
