Advocates for Human Potential (“AHP”) has an immediate opening for a Research Associate II to join our team of leading behavioral health researchers.
Responsibilities
- Developing and updating training materials and documentation on data collection tools for federally funded substance use and mental health programs
- Delivering training on data collection tools to federally funded substance use and mental health program staff
- Working with internal project teams, external key stakeholders, and clients to complete project deliverables, address and resolve quality assurance problems, and meet project deadlines.
- Developing and updating compendiums on jail and prison substance use disorder (SUD) treatment programs
- Assisting in the implementation of virtual trainings for addiction counselors and other SUD treatment providers
- Maintaining tracking databases of program data, program staff, and deliverables for federal grant reporting requirements
- Conducting key informant interviews with a wide range of stakeholders (state administrators, agency leadership, and clinicians/treatment providers)
- Participating in data collection and data quality/integrity tasks
- Preparing reports summarizing data and key program results
- Co-facilitating stakeholder meetings and preparing meeting minutes and other documents
- Preparing reports, presentations, data dictionaries, literature reviews, and other work products
- Assists on projects independently and collaboratively in team environments.
Qualifications
Required
- A Master’s degree in public health, public policy, criminal justice, sociology or related field
- Experience using Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) data collection—Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA), National Outcome Measures (NOMS), and Infrastructure Development, Prevention, and Mental Health Promotion (IPP).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working with various stakeholders, including federal program staff, state-level administrators, jail and prison leadership and staff, and/or correctional treatment professionals.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint.
Preferred
- Experience working directly with individuals who are currently or have experienced life challenges such as substance misuse, mental health problems, and/or justice involvement.
- Experience working or volunteering in direct service settings, justice-related agencies, or publicly-funded treatment programs, such as jails or prisons, reentry service providers, outreach programs, community-based SUD treatment centers, etc.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to perform duties that require close attention to detail.
- Ability to quickly establish rapport with federal partners, stakeholders, and program leadership and staff.
- Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary team members and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, technical staff, key stakeholders, and partner agencies.
- Ability to deliver training to program staff on data collection activities and program adherence in virtual and in-person settings.

The starting salary range for this position is between $63,000 and $68,000 annually, depending on experience, education, and other factors.

The base salary range above represents the low and high ends of the AHP salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be high or low in the range based on various factors, including but not limited to location, experience, and education. The range listed is just one component of AHP’s total employee compensation package.
