Advocates for Human Potential (“AHP”) has an immediate opening for a Senior Research Associate I, who will act as the REDCap Administrator/Data Manager to join our team of leading researchers in behavioral health studies. The successful candidate will have significant experience developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting REDCap-based projects. Ideal candidates have excellent problem-solving and analytic skills, are quick learners and skilled collaborators, and are detail-oriented and self-motivated.

Position Responsibilities

Data Management

  • Lead the design, build, and management of projects in REDCap.
  • Design and maintain REDCap reports for staff use and/or for internal and external communication.
  • Perform appropriate quality checks on datasets, assessing them for completeness and preparing them for statistical analysis.
  • Manage and manipulate complex data sets and combine data sets from multiple sources through reshaping, stacking, merging, joining, and other data management tasks.
  • Effectively collaborate with a team of analysts in producing reusable code and data pipelines for increased analytic efficiency across numerous projects.
  • Identify and navigate organizational constraints, working towards efficiencies and innovations as possible within those constraints.
  • Provide REDCap system training and technical assistance for other staff members and external collaborators using REDCap.

REDCap Administration

  • Oversee the overall functionality and maintenance of the REDCap system.
  • Ensure system updates and upgrades are applied promptly and effectively.
  • Ensure that data is handled in compliance with institutional, ethical, and regulatory standards.
  • Implement and manage user access controls and data security measures.
  • Configure project settings, user roles, and permissions.
  • Develop and implement custom solutions or enhancements as needed.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, project setups, and user procedures.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to REDCap functionality or user access.
  • Assist with IT troubleshooting and coordinate with REDCap’s software host, Vanderbilt University, as needed.

Leadership

  • Thought leadership and partnership in developing innovative and efficient ways to manage data across projects, including integration of REDCap with data management software.
  • Lead a team of REDCap-focused staff on 12+ REDCap projects that vary in size, scope, and complexity.
  • Supervise more junior staff.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree and 9+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Master’s degree and 7+ years of relevant work experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years leading REDCap development and administration.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience managing large datasets and troubleshooting issues with data management systems.
  • Proficiency with data cleaning, manipulation, and management via code using R. Experience with other analytic tools such as SPSS, Stata, SAS, or Python is also beneficial.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Experience working on large, fast-paced projects with hard deadlines that must be met. Must be able to work occasional weekends and evenings to accommodate project activities.

Preferred

  • Experience with database management and accessing databases via SQL preferred.
  • Proficiency with other data collection and data visualization tools (e.g., Domo, PowerBI, Tableau) is beneficial.

The starting salary range for this position is between $73,000 and $90,000, depending on experience, education, and other factors.

The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the AHP salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be high or low in the range based on various factors, including but not limited to location, experience, and education. The range listed is just one component of AHP’s total employee compensation package.
