(AHP) is looking for a Research Associate I to join our Research and Evaluation business unit, which addresses crucial issues in public and behavioral health.

AHP influences change in health and business systems to support at-risk and marginalized populations—from creating policy to engaging in ground-level, hands-on work. Our areas of expertise include behavioral health, mental health policy and services, substance use disorders, workforce development, homelessness, housing and employment programs, trauma-informed care, criminal justice, women and children, veterans, healthcare reform, and population health management.

Position Responsibilities

  • Support data collection development with REDCap, including writing report logic, calculating fields, and implementing creative solutions to complex survey issues.

  • Manage data collection for longitudinal designs.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of training for evaluation activities.

  • Conduct key informant interviews with a wide range of stakeholders (state administrators, agency leadership, and clinicians/treatment providers).

  • Participate in data entry, data cleaning, and data management tasks.

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses.

  • Co-facilitate stakeholder meetings and prepare meeting minutes and other documents.

  • Contribute to literature reviews, presentations, data dictionaries, reports, and other written work products.

  • Act as a liaison between the evaluation and program staff regarding data collection, submission, and all related questions.

  • Meet regularly with the project team to discuss the project process, data, and any difficulties.

  • Assisted with projects independently and collaboratively in team environments.

  • Occasional travel may be required.

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in public health, social work, sociology, or other related field.

  • Experience with Stata and REDCap (or another data collection software, such as Qualtrics).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience conducting interviews and engaging in other data collection activities, including Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) data collection.

  • Experience working directly with individuals who are currently or have experienced life challenges such as homelessness, substance misuse, mental health problems and/or child welfare involvement.

  • Experience working or volunteering in direct service settings, non-profit agencies, or publicly-funded treatment programs, such as homeless shelters, outreach programs, community-based mental health centers, etc.

  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative analysis, data collection, proposal writing, and project management.

  • Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders (e.g., state administrators, agency leadership, and clinicians/treatment providers).

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to perform duties that require close attention to detail.

  • Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary team members, and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor, technical staff, and community-based and other partners.

  • Ability to operate in a team environment and be flexible in taking on and performing assignments as necessary.

  • Ability to quickly establish a good rapport with federal partners, stakeholders and program leadership and staff.

  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and qualitative analysis and citation management software.

The starting salary range for this position is between $56,000 and $69,000, depending on experience, education, and other factors.

AHP, to be transparent with applicants about salary and in compliance with various state pay disclosure requirements, publishes the following information which is current as of the date of posting. The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the AHP salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be high or low in the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and education. The range listed is just one component of AHP’s total compensation package for employees.
