Advocates for Human Potential, Inc. (AHP) is seeking an Intern to work with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion department for 20 hours per week. In this role, you'll gain valuable experience working alongside a dedicated team to foster a culture of inclusion within the organization. You'll assist with a variety of projects and initiatives designed to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the company. We expect this internship to last at least through the fall semester.

About AHP

AHP influences change in health and business systems to support vulnerable populations—from creating policy to engaging in ground-level, hands-on work. We help organizations and individuals reach their full potential through professional consulting; research, evaluation, and data analytics; technical assistance and training; and virtual solutions, publications, and events.

Our areas of expertise include behavioral health, mental health policy, and services, substance use disorders, workforce development, homelessness, housing and employment programs, trauma-informed care, criminal justice, women and children, veterans, healthcare reform, and population health management.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct ongoing research on current DEI trends and best practices.
  • Assist with planning Employee resource group meetings (True Colors and Affinity Groups)
  • Help develop and facilitate DEI training
  • Create content for DEI communication channels and SharePoint site.
  • Manage and populate DEI Library
  • Support the DEI team with administrative tasks
    • Manage workplan and deliverables
    • Coordinate multiple tasks, including aspects of the timeline, budget, workplan, and staffing

Qualifications

  • Passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Passion for creating a culture of continual learning
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms.

Education and Experience:

Candidates for this position should be enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program or have worked in a program coordinator role in a non-profit or for-profit organization within an area of AHP's focus (behavioral health, mental health policy, and services, substance use disorders, workforce development, homelessness, housing and employment programs, trauma-informed care, criminal justice, women and children, veterans, healthcare reform, and population health management.)

Salary Range: $20 - $25 per hour

The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the AHP salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be high or low in the range based on a range of factors including but not limited to location, experience, and education. The range listed is just one component of AHP’s total compensation package for employees.
