Summary

Advocates for Potential (AHP) is seeking an experienced, multitalented individual to join our innovative technology team as a User Experience Designer (UX Designer), specializing in the ideation and delivery of valuable user experience based on detailed problem discovery, and user research. The UX Designer will operate across all value streams within our organization, specializing primarily in grants management workflows across user groups, and interfaces for delivering actionable data insights. The UX Designer role also supports software testing and quality assurance/usability of our technology products.

Responsibilities

  • User Research and Analysis:
    • Conduct comprehensive user research, interviews, and surveys to gather insights into user behaviors, needs, and preferences.
    • Analyze user feedback and usability testing results to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement in digital experiences.
  • Design and Prototyping:
    • Develop wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to visualize design concepts and facilitate discussions with stakeholders.
    • Create intuitive and visually appealing UI designs based on user-centered design principles and industry best practices.
  • Collaboration and Iteration:
    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, marketers, and product managers, to ensure alignment between design solutions and business objectives.
    • Iterate on designs based on feedback, usability testing, and evolving project requirements.
  • User Acceptance Testing and QA:
    • Work with engineering teams to review development work for quality of user interface, interactivity, and fidelity with designs.
    • Ensure that development work addresses “problems to be solved” in a real word setting (web interactivity, production data) based on solutions outlined in design mockups.
  • Usability and Accessibility:
    • Ensure designs meet high standards of usability and accessibility, adhering to WCAG guidelines and other relevant standards.
    • Implement user-centric design methodologies to enhance overall user experience and accessibility.
  • Design System Development:
    • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a comprehensive design system to ensure consistency and scalability across digital products.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch Adobe XD, Figma, etc., and familiarity with product management tools (Jira, Asana, Trello).
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, usability, and interaction design best practices.
  • Basic understanding of software development and testing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with software testing tools (e.g., Selenium, JIRA, TestRail).
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, or similar is a plus.
  • Ability to understand and analyze business requirements and technical specifications.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills with a strong attention to detail.

Years of Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in UX/UI design, information architecture, or interaction design.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience with software user experience and quality assurance testing.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Computer Science, Business, or related field. Master’s degree is a plus.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $92,000

AHP, in an effort to be transparent with applicants about salary and in compliance with various state pay disclosure requirements, publishes the following information which is current as of the date of posting. The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the AHP salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be high or low in the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and education. The range listed is just one component of AHP’s total compensation package for employees.
