Advocates for Human Potential, Inc. (AHP) is seeking a Real Estate Attorney with commercial development & construction experience in the state of California. This Real Estate Attorney must have the savvy to work with internal stakeholders to craft complex contracts in a wide variety of commercial real estate areas including partner, subcontractor, acquisition, lease, and AIA contracts. AHP helps organizations and individuals reach their full potential through professional consulting; research, evaluation, and data analytics; technical assistance and training; and virtual solutions, publications, and events.

As AHP’s Real Estate Attorney, reporting to the General Counsel, you will be a partner with subject matter experts in our Center for Training, Technical Assistance, and Consulting to work on land use, due diligence, contracting, and acquisitions and be responsible for the substantive review, drafting, and negotiation of such real estate contracts.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and assess legal and business risks, and escalate issues as needed.
  • Review, real estate contracts, and other relevant documents (AIA contracts).
  • Work hand-in-hand with the Contracts staff to manage version control of all assigned contracts.
  • Partner with business teams at all levels and across multiple functions to effectively identify and remedy potential legal and process issues.
  • Advise: 1) assure real estate contracts follow proscribed requirements; (2) minimize or eliminate risk factors related to the purchase; and 3) result in a positive long-term relationship with AHP’s clients.
  • Serve as a point of contact for real estate questions from within the company.
  • Oversee the expansion and organization of a library of agreement templates and outstanding agreements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • JD degree.
  • At least five years of experience negotiating, writing, and reviewing commercial real estate agreements, construction contracts, AIA contracts, and title reviews as part of an in-house legal team or law firm.
  • Excellent contract review, drafting, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience reviewing, redlining, and managing real estate contracts
  • Experience reviewing and drafting various complex real estate contracts.
  • Extremely organized, thorough, and accurate with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and workstreams to meet deadlines.

Salary Range: $130,000 - $170,000

The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the AHP salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be high or low in the range based on a range of factors, including but not limited to location, experience, and education. The range listed is just one component of AHP’s total compensation package for employees.
