Summary

AHP seeks a qualified Data Visualization Engineer who will work with business owners to define and improve data visualization services; collaborate with project directors and clients to design, budget, and implement data visualization solutions. Responsibilities include documenting and analyzing business requirements; researching, testing, implementing, writing complex SQL scripts, and managing Data Visualization infrastructure including analytic, statistical, front-end UI, and business intelligence solutions to support the data visualization needs of projects; providing internal and external trainings and presentations; supporting internal and external proposals. The candidate should demonstrate a willingness to seek novel solutions to technology and business problems and the flexibility to acquire the necessary skills for implementation.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Serve as resource to project staff in all phases of development and implementation of data visualization systems, solutions, and process improvements.
  • Analyze business problems to determine appropriate technical and/or non-technical solutions.
  • Work closely with the project team to understand, analyze and normalize the data and make available for visualization.
  • Employ strong SQL skills for analysis, validation, and verification of data.
  • Provide design direction – present initial wireframes/mock-ups and proofs of concepts to clients and gather feedback then present final designs and methodologies for approval.
  • Work on development – implement proofs of concept using BI and data visualization technologies.
  • Ensure dashboards meet accessibility requirements as applicable and as a design principle.
  • Work closely with the project teams to normalize the data and make available for visualization.
  • Test data transformation processes for accuracy given various expected and unexpected inputs and quality of visualizations across all supported browsers and devices.
  • Support project by training team on use of solutions.
  • Ability to pick up additional skills quickly.

Preferred Skills / Prerequisites

  • Expertise with data visualization tools like QuickSight, Tableau, Power BI, D3, Plotly, HighCharts or similar.
  • Strong SQL skills.
  • Strong understanding of databases, database structures, data warehousing to include data modeling principles with specific knowledge of Redshift, MySQL and PostgreSQL
  • Strong programming skills in Python, JavaScript, or R
  • Familiarity with AWS and other cloud platforms
  • Version control repositories like GitHub or Bitbucket
  • Software development tools like Jira and Confluence
  • A desire to write re-usable, readable code using the most up to date industry standards
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in translating perceived needs into technical requirements.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.

Minimum Qualifications

BA/BS with (5-8) years of experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience

Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000

AHP, in an effort to be transparent with applicants about salary and in compliance with various state pay disclosure requirements, publishes the following information which is current as of the date of posting. The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the AHP salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be high or low in the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and education. The range listed is just one component of AHP’s total compensation package for employees.
